Evolution of Man: The earth is a planet in the solar system. The earth came into being about 4500 million year ago. At first, it was in the gaseous state. Gradually, over a period, it solidified and land formed. Water bodies developed on land. Algae-like plants developed in water. At about this time unicellular micro-organisms were formed. Today's man evolved in stages from the ape - a monkey closely resembling man. The two main stages in this evolution are Ho-mo Ere-ctus and Ho-mo Sapiens. The word ho*mo indicates "with upright spine". Ho*mo Sapiens' means 'the wise man'. At this stage, he began to make fire and devise stone implements.

Nor can I think of Hitler's death camps, or Hiroshima or Nagasaki, as "Great Purifications." And I can't make myself believe that the millions killed by plagues, cancers, natural catastrophes, etc., throughout history were all singled out by some Cosmic Intelligence for punishment, while the survivors were preserved due to their virtues. To accept the idea of "God" implicit in such views is logically to hold that everybody hit by a car deserved it, and we should not try to get him to a hospital and save his life, since "God" wants him dead.

I don't know who are the worst sinners on this planet, but I am quite sure that if a Higher Intelligence wanted to exterminate them, It would find a very precise method of locating each one separately. After all, even Lee Harvey Oswald -- assuming the official version of the Kennedy assassination -- only hit one innocent bystander while aiming at JFK. To assume that Divinity would employ earthquakes and pole shifts to "get" (say) Richard Nixon, carelessly murdering millions of innocent children and harmless old ladies and dogs and cats in the process, is absolutely and ineluctably to state that your idea of God is of a cosmic imbecile.

Do you know why English was taught to the natives by the Britishers? That was meeting their requirement of Clerks. No doubt we have benefited from that to some extent but that is a by-product. So don't tell us that the Indian sub-continent would have been submerged in the Arabian sea had the European colonizers plundered the wealth of our Country.

Once having created Adam, all dust on planet earth got exhausted. Since Adam was pestering God to provide him with a companion, god thought of creating a woman for him from one of his ribs.
As sterilized operation theatre was not available at that time, God opted to perform the surgery in the open air. He removed one rib of Adam and kept on a leaf and left to the near-by river bank to wash his hands. God asked Angel Gabriel to keep a watch on the rib. When Angel Gabriel winked for a while, Satan appeared from nowhere and started running with the rib. Gabriel also ran after him. Satan plunged into his hell hole. Gabriel could catch hold of Satan’s tail only. Since he was very afraid of the God's wrath, he de-skinned Satan’s tail and kept the same on the leaf where God had kept Adam's rib. God returned after washing his hands and created Eve from the de-skinned tail bone of Satan without realizing that it was not the original Rib of Adam he had removed!!!!!!!!!!! So half of human being’s character is that of "Satan"!!

ok so u told that ur Christian friend told u, now let me tell u what the Bible says - "God then noted that "It is not good that the man should be alone." He then brought every "beast of the field and every fowl of the air" before Adam and had Adam name all the animals. However, among all the animals, there was not found "a helper suitable for" Adam, so God caused "a deep sleep to fall upon Adam" and took one of his ribs, and from that rib, formed a woman, subsequently named Eve. A woman is a part of man, for God made man male and female. And the women was taken out of his side(rib). So then she is flesh of his flesh and bone of his bone. So Adam loved Eve because he loved himself and the two were one flesh. This is a natural reason why he should love his wife, and nourish and cherish her because no man ever yet hates his own flesh. I hope that makes more sense than what ur friend told u.

Mr. Pranab, till about 2 years back I was not aware of the intolerance and absurdities in the Bible as I am irreligious atheist. Some abusive messages from a Christian on a discussion board like this only forced me to look into the matter deeply. Now I an quite sure that the missionaries have some dubious agenda.

The violence in Kandhamal and other parts of Orissa following the killing of Swami Lakshmananda Saraswati has claimed 10 lives. The sadhu was known to be vociferously protesting against the proselytisation from a particular community. There have been 9 attempts on the life of Swami Laxmananda prior to his murder by the christian terrorism. Also in the past there have been attempts on the life of Acharya Narendra Maharaj of Mah and Swami Aseemananda of Dang,Guj whose only sin was to reconvert the poor tribals back into hinduism.
Religious conversion is highly provocative and dangerous. In such provocative acts, it is only the innocent who fall victims. Orissa has witnessed communal conflagration on more than one occasion. The state govt should enact laws prescribing stringent punishment against forced conversion or conversion by inducements from one faith to another
