Y it flood in Mumbai ??
by JACOB PAUL on Jul 01, 2008 01:53 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I have spent my entire childhood in mumbai. During those times there were a lot of trees and i could see gardens and open spaces. I could see far of building from my terrace. But now there are so many new building constructed and high rise building. There is no way that the water can seep underground. As as result the water from the higher areas just flows to the low lying areas and thus causes flooding. It is we the people who have created this havoc. If we have planned constructions and open spaces this problem would have been minimal as it is made to be alarming now. We have no consideration for the environment. Just cut trees and build new concrete jungles. The heat from all these constructions causes a low pressure leading to heavy rain. Its all we who got to take the blame. Just pointing fingers at others cannot happen. Lets try to solve the problem

You mean that your flat was constructed without cutting the trees? This is typical indian mentality. When you need flat no problems & when it is the turn of others people like u have more problem.

You have to correct yourself that it is the corrupt municipal corporation to blame who give NOC for building of structures without any upgradation to the drainage infrastructure.

Shaan,

Every frog thinks the well he is living is the best, and rather there are no worlds around. For him, the Well is everything. His life starts in the well and ends there.

So is your case Shaan. You have seen your Haryana, and may be Delhi and few sorrounding states (which others call as cow-belt). There is nothing wrong for you to feel good about Haryana. Chant the above mantra 'Haryana isthe best State among all the States in INdia' atleast 108 times every day. You will attain 'moksha'

Chandigarh is undoubtedly the most well planned city in India... But that hardly qualifies Haryana to become the best state in India...

by Parag Bhangale on Jul 01, 2008 01:16 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This is one funny department that raises alarms when the blood bath is over. before this, they all go in a good slumber. can someone slap them hard to be AWAKE and do the job. i willl not be surprised if today they wake up and say heavy rains expected tomorrow, and there will be NO rain clouds (not even one) to be seen in the skies....hahaha-- this is the height of ridicule..... must be shared as a nice joke in schools...

Delhi had a fair amount of rains during the entire month of May and early june. one fine morning, the met department said that the Monsoon has arrived in Delhi - a good 15 days or so in advance, and said it is a sort of record in the recent years.

And from the next day onwards, till today, Delhi is sweating it out. No rain at all. Only clouds and unbearable humidity! Had they not uttered anything, Delhi would have perhaps got good rainfall this year.

Dear you will have to slap each and every department that is suppose to keep the City Wprking. Do you find any visible work of BMC's working at any given point of time.

Things will not work unless the people are made accountable for their deeds.

I'm agreed with you. I have also noticed this that when they say that there will be heavy rain it doesn't rain and vice versa. When it will start raining they will say that it will continue for few days more but reverse happens in most of the cases.
