ISSUES AND CALAMITY IN INDIA
by Roshan Varghese on Aug 30, 2008 11:20 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

In our country the interest of country or people's well being is not taken care. When a calamity occurs then only people or Govt get vigil. They won't take any measures to avoid or overcome the calamities in future. The people suffers in Bihar Orissa are indians so others should not think that it is not our issue and extend helping hands to them generously.

Blame game
by Ganesh on Aug 30, 2008 10:57 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Blame game is on. When CM made a statement on 17th August, center did not respond. The relief has been announced only on the day , PM visited Bihar. These guys play while oublic suffers. If everyone knows that Kosi swells ever year why can't canals be built to supply water to the other parts of the country like MP, North Maharstra etc. These places get scant rainfall. This gives more importance to the vision of AB Vajapyee who said about interlinking of rivers and peole laughed at him. If now they understand by what he meant , he was only telling them about the future .

See the 1000 cr announced. 90% comes to the pocket of a few. So it is good for the leadres. Now you understood why they laugh at Vajapyee. Dog and political leaders are having short mrmory and take the guaranty after one month only everybody including media forgot the issue. and the local population as slave give vote in different party.

Yes, the vision of AB Vajapyee about interlinking of rivers is the only option. Only GOD knows when these politicians like Lalu Yadav realize this. When Vajapyee mooted the idea of interlinking of rivers, Lalu was the first person to jump in protest of this idea. The reason is simple. If there is a calamity like what has happened now in Bihar, Lalu will pocket 95% of amount sanctioned by Centre. He thought he will rule Bihar for ever and since floods in Bihar are a routine yearly affair, his and his family's coffers will swell every year. But unfortunately he lost the elections. The situation in Bihar started to improve under Nitish's government but he should alse realize now that interlinking of rivers will help in controlling the flood waters and at the same time provide water to drought hit areas of Bihar. Centre should immediately think of interlinking of rivers throught the country

Floods in Bihar
by vijay kumar on Aug 30, 2008 10:39 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This is the fat of all Bihari in the hands of the these corrupt politicians.I viewed a news revelining the news that the concerned officer was not interested to give the contract of repair the Dam due to their own commission(brib). This is very common on this region of Bihar and Nepal.I belong to the same area and faces this type of Situation in this Place. It is very unfortunate for this state that inspite of having so much talented and Laboures people they are not able to have proper facilites. From Beining and till date i have not found any Polotical Person who has really think about the development of Bihar, they all are concered on their own development. They have only one work, divide the people on the basis of thier cast and religon and rule the state in their Own way.

kosi floods
by anurag asthana on Aug 30, 2008 10:16 AM  Permalink

Direct public action is the solution. Derelict public officials and politicians should be executed Chinese style. People should take their welfare in their own hands. This country has gone to the dogs led by morally decayed politicians and only its people can save it from further degeneration. This problem could have been mitigated but as it happens everytime in this country - it was just not done.

The same old story.....
by Junaid Badshah on Aug 30, 2008 10:11 AM  Permalink

Its the same old story again. The sufferers are the common people. I have personally endures during the floods in Surat..the last one being in 2006. To garner the votebank and to hog the limelight, a few relief packages were dropped by the army helicopters but is that enough? Its the same old story everywhere....there should have been enough precautions taken by the govt. in advance to avoid...why dont we learn our lessons even when the calamities are repeated time and again .... in different parts of the country..?? The condition at Ground Zero is much worse than shown by the media...the media does glorify the pain .. but actually its much much more....
Why doesnt the govts (central & state) act in a proactive manner anytime?? The Rs.1000 Crore relief now shouted out by the prime minister ... would this actually reach the affected people?? or will it find its way into the pockets of the babus--like its been for ages??
Change is whats needed now...else it will be too late....
