Some thoughts of joy
by VS M on Nov 08, 2007 11:53 AM  | Hide replies

I'd like to raise a toast to a couple of folks:

1> Lakshmi - hats off to your joyful spirit and tremendous courage lil one. God Bless you with a happy, healthy, cheerful and prosperous life.

2> Lakshmi's parents - a heartfelt thank you for not getting bogged down by superstition etc, but rather taking a very bold step and in the right direction by consenting for the surgery. It must have been very very hard as parents to see your child go through all that she had to. You both have done very very well and you will be overjoyed with the outcome! God bless you.

3> Allll the doctors, nurses, attendants, hospital staff: Truly, the most noble of professions are doctors and teachers. You have done both - as doctors, helped better a child's life. And in showing us the humane side of man by your deeds (willing to operate, sponsor the entire procedure, working as a team, staying back despite the tiring and long surgical procedure etc) , you taught us some much needed lessons in humanity. Congratulations and may your spirit spread through this land.

- a very happy and proud Indian

Twin that isn't!
by K on Nov 07, 2007 08:32 PM

Instead of one, when two sperms enter the egg, twins are born. Sometimes a single fertilized egg divides itself into two to give rise to two identical twins.
In Lakshmi's case the twin, that were to be born, was short of development and mearged into Lakshmi. I wonder if such cases could be detected earlier, right at that time, when the child is still in her mother's womb.
There have been cases where two cojoined twins are born with one brain. Imagine having to separate twins from their brains! Almost to say, one must survive at the cost of the other!

Hatsoff to the Doctors
by sunil kumar nambiar on Nov 07, 2007 04:09 PM

It is often referred to Doctors as second God, they have proved it today by having suscessful operation on cute little child laxmi, may god bless her for a wonderful life, I appreciate her parents for their faith in the almighty, and above all may this kind of doctors tribe increase worldwide, so as to bring down the sufferings and pains of human being, Doctors of sparsh hospital bangalore, has shown to the world, still there exist doctors of integrity and humane approach, where money is not everything, once again I pray god for such kind of persons to give enough of strength to perform such noble needs in future also to the needy. God bless u laxmi and good luck to youor parents
