Religion of God
by Kris Iyer on Jun 04, 2007 07:49 PM  Permalink

This is a terrible discrimination.
What is the religion of God ?
I think many among us are still far far away from civilization.

Dear Mr.Ravi
Listening your story like me every Hindu is ashmated of these Brahmins Arrogance, these are self made people destroying our society and cultur.Fight them tooth and Nail, donot be merciful only a people of your standard can reform them.
Tell them our Lord Ram ate "Jhute Bair"(Half eaten berries ) of a Sweeper lady "Sabri",our lord touched feet of a Sailor.Lord Krishna's friend were all from schedule and other caste people.
Please stop all these things for Betterment of Hinduism, open the door of our Temples for every socalled untoucxhables as these are fellow brothers and sisters, especially to all followers of other religion, sothat they will be impressed by our philospy and may adapt hinduism or will appreciate it,please control yourself, otherwise whole Hindu community should comeforward to out them from their rein, our lord is not their slave, actually he is very painful being worshiped by such poor mentality Brahmins.

Dear Nakipuria

If you read his Wife's statement "My Husbands community (as per Ravi himself its Ezawars and not Brahmins) threatened to kill us if she didnt make her Children follow Hindu rituals", so where are Brahmins in the picture.
Thevars and Nadars have fought amongst themselves burtn busses.
Meenas and Gujjars do the same.
Where is Brahminism coming into picture my friend.

Like you give a shit about hinduism or hindus. You are just another brahmin bashing opportunist, who uses every opportunity to bash at some sects of hindus. You are probably a converted christian yourself, aand as usual and with eagerness are jumping into controversy for your few seconds of anti-hindu cheap thrill. Go gyrate your hips to the tune of a bollywood music, sicko, if you've got nothing better to do.

Religious HypocraZy
by M Muralidharan on Jun 04, 2007 07:48 PM  Permalink

Let us leave the religions to the respective religious people. Hindus are tolerant to that extent that they allow these type of discussion whereas all others go to the street and protest. Fatwas are issued by others. The so call broad minded people should worship in their house and not disturb HINDU traditions. As long as all HINDUS get right to worshi in a hindu temple, all others should just back off.

Here the topic is about religoius faith and not about caste. When it comes to the question of untouchability, even kerala christians follow that. If you want more information about that visit www.dalitchristians.com, If i am not wrong kerala is the first region in the country to allow all the people of hindu religion into temples.

Measure with same yardstick
by Anand VG on Jun 04, 2007 07:48 PM  Permalink

Recently the grand Mufti of Kashmir issued a fatwa prohibiting non muslims from bulding mosques as the army wanted to do so as part of the Sadbhavana operation. Has the governement considered this arrogance of the Imams?

Why dont you measure the sentiments of all religions with same yard stick. If you want to condemn, please condemn both the actions.

Who is a Hindu
by Ramasubramaniam Iyer on Jun 04, 2007 07:47 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Guys the debate should always be
Wether Non Hindus should be allowed into the temple or not. Now who is a Non Hindu. How will we define it.
Doesnt Bhagwad Gita say that just as all rivers and streams go to one ocean, in the same manner in whatever form you worship the lord it all goes to Lord Krishna.
By that very definition isnt he or she a Hindu when that person is performing Poojas believing in the existence of the lord. For eg Yesudas. He has sung innumerous Hindu devotional songs and I am a big fan of his Bhagwad Gita cassette.
Isnt he then an Hindu.
Why do we arrogate ourselves and say temples need cleaning.? That means God is so weak that he will be dirtied by someone visiting the temple? No.
We shouldnt care what Islam or Christianity does.?
We should reform ourselves and our thinking.
Traditions and customs can be changed. They are human created, and hence they can be changed.
I sympathise with Vayalar Ravi on the grounds that everyone has a right to worship what they want, but then Vayalar Ravi should answer this question, he is talking of Brahminical arrogance, Brahmins did not murder anybody for marrying Christians and as per his own Wifes statement, Vayalars community (Ezhavars) would have murdered his family if they didnt bring up their children in Hindu way.
So where is the Brahminical arrogance.
The priest was just doing what he was supposed to do.

Dear Biz

In what way is it illogical?
All I am saying is there is nothing wrong with Non Hindus visiting the temples as long as they maintain decorum of the temple.
I can go to a church and light a candle. If you ought to know Hindu Brahmin ladies unmarried for a long time go and pray in a Church in Mahim in Mumbai so that they can get married quickly.
All I am asking what is wrong in our changing temple rules and regulations.
As long as the neatness of the temple, being silent and not disturbing others as long as people follow such rules there shouldnt be anything bad in Non Hindus entering the temples.

Is it not foolishness to even think that the Temple of the Almighty could be made impure by mortal souls? And God needs some rites to purify his Abode? Kerala Tantris should grow up.
