Infact women have no right in Islam, they are like slaves. ANd speaking of Christians, here in Toronto , one of the largest school board only accepts students who are Catholic, you can't think of that in India. You go any direction, there is a church every 1-2 kms.But that does not matter to Hindus who are progressive and it's only matter of time when this caste system will be thing of past.

You are right..But it is not church who have given them this right!For more than 1950years of its history women were denied of this opportunity in Christanity even.It is because of so women liberalisation movement in west that these things are happening. Although it is appreciable! Some temples in india have Dalit Priests! But that doesnot make one religion greater! Every religion has shortcomings! I have never seen a Black POPE in chirstianity's history.If you have please let me know!

Well, The topic is about womens role in religion as leaders, and not which religion is superior. Tell if any mainstream temple has Dalit priests in India? and were we have women as a main preist? BTW, meathodists are a mainstream Church as Guruvayoor temple.

Jeremy, Jesus as an illegitimate son is not my observation. It is given in the gospel called Levitikon. Bible was compiled of the cononical gospels because, it was good for Church's propaganda. they banned and burnt over 50 gospels which said Jesus was just human.

Andhra CM isn't a converted Christian.....he is a born Christian....his dad is a converted Christian from an upper caste. In any case what is your problem if AP CM is a Christian?
Anyways notice how we INDIANS always ending up fighting over practically everything even when some of us aren't in India. And we wonder why doesn't India develop? Sure part of it is the politicians, a MUCH BIGGER part is the people's inability to focus on REAL issues.

Unlike people like you who will keep people of your own faith isolated we have no issues about any muslim entering a mosque neither do christians have issues about people of any faith coming to church. No wonder because of people like you, those who you isolate find faith and comfort in these other religions of peace. Infact, brahmin are already cleaning toilets -that too in a big way. Mr Pathak, a brahmin, is the owner of Shulabh Shauchalaya, and thousands of brahmins are working in that org-cleaning toilets. In these days it should not matter what you are doing as long as you are doing something legal.

Hey Jeremy, we christians had practicised the worst religious crime of "Sale of Indulgance". We sould not forget the misdeeds of our leaders before blaming the heads of other religions. Look at the problem with a neutral stance. Though I'm a Christian by birth, I cannot believe that Jesus was an incarnation of the Almighty. Jesus also didn't preach hatred but our ancestors were taught to hate Jews and non-Christians. Why blame others communities while our community itself is not defect free?

We broadminded Hindus must give Tamil Nadu style public sector reservations to SC/ST/BC/OBCs/Tribals and also give such reservations in PRIVATE SECTOR. And also clean Dalit toilets just like Gandhi, who was the greatest Hindu. Then nobody will convert to Christianity or Islam. It is very simple. In any case, it is written in our own scriptures that "IN KALIYUGA, CHANDALA WILL RULE OVER BRAHMIN". So our Karma is to diligently clean Dalit toilets for several lifetimes and Yugas so that we can hope to be born as a Dalit who enjoys reservations after several births. This is the right thing to do. Stop fighting Hindu brothers. Already Brahmins are doing the job of Kshatriyas by joining Army and doing the job of Vaishyas by doing business like Infosys Narayanamurthy. So there is no harm if Brahmins clean the toilets of Dalits. After all, they use Harpic to clean the toilets in their own houses. our Lord Ram ate "Jhute Bair"(Half eaten berries ) of a Sweeper lady "Sabri". So what is the harm if all upper castes cleaning Dalit toilets just like Gandhi? Dear Bhaskar Chattopadhyay, there is no harm if all upper caste women become Devadasis and service Dalits who enjoy reservations. This is Kaliyuga according to the scriptures and this is most natural. This is your Karmic duty for several Yugas and lifetimes. Hinduism is a most liberal religion. Jeremy, You seem to be convert from father less mom or product of torn nirodh.Do not spread hatred here in India.
The first one is saying Nair and Namboodthiri, both aare matriarchal, which is not the case. Namboothiri, the Kerala Brahmin follows Patriarchism.
The second one is saying Guruvayoorappan is an avatar of Lord Krishna. He is not considered as avtar of Krishna, but Krishna himself, more specifically Krishna as an infant.
And the third is Ravi saying the whole issue is because he is of backward caste Ezhava. The issue was his wife being Christian and Hindu Temples in Kerala does'nt allow non hindus to enter temple premises.
So his son was not considered a Hindu because his mother was Christian.
Ravi has every right to feel aggrieved but being a responsibe citizen and a leader of status he should not distort facts ang give it a casteist colour. Especially in Kerala's background where casteism is not at all prevelant.
And besides all Guruvaayoor Temple gets frequent terrorist threats. Allowing any Tom Dick and Haarry to the centureis old shrine is non acceptable.
And temples in Kerala adhere to strong rituals like not allowing people to have non veg food and go inside it. Non Hindus won't adhere to such strict regimen.
Being a brahmin myself, I would like to say that this practise of untouchability is a shame on our religion and people who practise it should be ostracised from our religion and society. All men are equal.
