Sad to see such stupid replies to the contextual problem
by kapil somani on Jun 05, 2007 06:36 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Its really disheartening to see the messages being written for such a news. Instead of condemning the act of the priest, we are involving in mudslinging.. in differentiating us from muslims , blaming congress, blaming secularists etc etc..

am aint a big supporter of congress or secularists either.. but guys be practical and accept that whatever the priests are doing there in kerala in this temple is not acceptable..

i am proud to be a hindu for the fact that hinduism allows ppl to live freely and pursue whatever they want.. god is something beyond us and betond religions.. its not like he will get insulted if a non hindu enters the shrine and then needs a purification..

this is just unaaceptable. God is for every1 and every1 is alike. Why the doors of the god to be shut on any 1 might be a hindu/muslim/christian..

the theory of god works on the principle that he is the one encompassing all.. he is in every1 and every1 is in him.. then why restrict ppl..

lastly, in every religion there are ppl who instigate ppl against one another.. its for the ppl to stand up united against these ppl..be it hindu/muslim/christians..

It is truly Brahminical ignorance
by Aruna Kumar on Jun 05, 2007 06:32 AM  Permalink

The vedas were entrusted to Brahmins for safe-guarding when the religion came under attack from foreign invaders. However, the Brahmins have modified things to the point that others have become "untouchables" or "unworthy" of God. One doesn't become a brahmin by birth. The true brahmin is one who realizes brahman or God. One doesn't attain that God merely by reading, memorizing and preaching the vedas. A true knower is a true brahmin/brahman and are the likes Krishna, Buddha or Christ. Valmiki wasn't a brahmin by birth- he was a forest dweller and hunter. He wrote the Ramayana after knowing that "brahman" or God and thus became a brahmin by deed. There are many brahmins by birth who are 'chandalas' by deed.

No HHH, by better I meant that religion will stop being an issue and we will concentrate on welfare issues and leading a fulfilling life. I think people should just recognize anybody's right to pursue their own paths and not try to argue them out of it and in fact nobody really gains whatever happens according to my opinion.

No need to wipe out the Hinduism. Only seperate Brahmanism from Hinduism, eradicate the caste system from Hinduism it will again become Holy. Let Brahmins follow brahmanism away from hindus.

HHH, I have an opinion. I think anything that is good in any religion (or anywhere else) has to survive and the bad has to be condemned. I don't believe that just because you are born somewhere or born into some culture you have to defend it inspite of its obvious flaws. I don't support anybody or am against. I am just issue based.

Islam

It is very sad to see that Brahman stop to pray the Union Minister family atleast at the time when he was so sad and his one grandson has died. This made them religious but the brahmans of the temples hurt their sentiments.Islam is a religion of equality and it never previal untouchabilty all the humans are equal in Islam either they are upper caste or lower caste all can read namaz in any mosque any where in world nobody can stop them.

hi zaheen,
i agree with you. but hinduism is also not as potrayed by these acts.. lord krishna divided the human folk in 4 diff categories based on the work they did.. Also, it dint supported untouchability.besides the distinction in various castes was not on the basis of lineage as currently followed but on basis of work a person does. such distinction is followed in every society..it helps joining the like mindied ppl together..also the code of conduct in day to day life is different for ppl working in diff places. eg: a soldier is fighting for freeing his homeland and saving his ppl. So if he kills somebody for that, would that be a sin?? But on the other hand, if a merchant kills some1, its a sin for him..
But as in all religions, the later followers used the text incorrectly to their advantage and propogated such silly things..things have changed a lot over previous years. i accept there are some like the priests still existing but can say in the same breath that they are hugely outnumbered. we the modern day literate hindus stand against such priests and are very sad to hear such one off cases.regarding islam, i think the same applies true.. and i know a lot of good ppl whose stand is against the fanatical stand proposed by the minority there

Mr. Zaheen
No point in comparing religions based on practices. Most of this traditions are made by humans themselves....I feel Upanishads dont preach untouchability.
Similarly for Muslims there r so many unislamic traditions being followed by Muslims.
U cant blame religion for that.
There r many Brahman who dont care for casts..
So its the mentality that one possesses is important not his cast ..creed ..

You are not supposed to blame Brahman ...
thats UNISLAMIC...

Guruvayur priest attitude is totally wrong
by sangamesh on Jun 05, 2007 05:43 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Guruvayur priest attitude is totally wrong. They are insulting all the Hindu%u2019s.
Hinduism is a way of life. Irrespective of religion whoever likes Hinduism, he can be allowed to enter the temple.
My fellow Indians, come out and teach a lesson to the priest of Guruvayur and remove them from the priest post. Allow all the people in the world into temple and spread the Hinduism all over the world.

Brahmanical arrogance
by gundala swamy on Jun 05, 2007 05:39 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Hindu Temples do not follow the constitution of India for their daily rituals. they have their own traditions passed on from generation to generation for many many years. Present day intellectuals show their ignorance by calling it as brahmanical arrogance. Can any non muslim ever imagine visiting even the city of
Mecca in Saudi leave alone the the Mosque there.
It is better for the politicians leave the temples alone and not to show their political arrogance
