My Dear brother from Karnataka & Tamil nadu - Hold on please
by Sundar Rajan on Feb 05, 2007 09:50 PM  Permalink

1. India and Pak share water of 5 rivers (2.5 wars; millions died in terriorist activities; still we could share water
2. India and Bangaladesh share water (1 crore civil invaders; Bangala is heaven for terriorists)

I am ashamed of reading the postings here. Too much of emotions and too much of rubbish.

Think sensibly.......We are brothers not enemies. We can come out of this problem through table talk. Not by this kind of rubbish talk...

bad precedent
by manjunath samaga on Feb 05, 2007 09:32 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

the tribunal had set a bad precedent by granting irrational shares to karnataka, tamilnadu. And, that too after a great deal of 16 years!!!. Are we heading backwards???

verdict biassed towards Tamilanadu
by Prashant js on Feb 05, 2007 08:55 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

One clear message here Karnataka never said that it will not release water, it is the amount that was the question
questions on the verdic
1)Kaveri runs 318 Km in Karnataka and 315 Km in Tamilaadu and why/what bases Tribnal awarded 419 tmc TN.
2) ineterim order was of 205 tmc to TN then why suddenly increased to 419 tmc
3) so many peoples writes that Karntaka leaves water other states when there in flood only, this is not uniq to Karnataka, for your info. due MH north karnataka faced contineuos flood last year we Kannadiga hardly questionned it
4) the verdict is totaly baissed and KAR has every rights to oppose it ...... we certainly must to that.

Deviating from the above point why such kind baissed verdict against Kar, Politicle reason one can easily glance........
first of all there is totaly wrong concept of MP seat distrubution india based on density....
TN which is having 75% of Kar land posses 40 MP seats as aginst only 28 MP seats in KAR cleary the cutting politicle advantage of TN....
this means that when somewhere in 2019-2020 InidanMP seat is going to be revised KAR sholud increase it's population doble than the TN polpulation to gain same MP seats... how foolish system oneside we say "Population control" and anotherside such foolish rules which encourages popultaion...

whatever it may be ..... Karnataka should question this verdict in Suprem court... and taking more hard decission KAR shoul question tribunals biass towards TN....

happy surfing......

Regards,
Prashant JS

Pls read the verdict gain. 419tmc include the cauvery catchment in TN also. In reality it is closer to 205tmc.

Prashant,
There are few facts. I honestly believe, court is still not much affected by petty politics. U may have difference of opinion with the verdect, but coloring it is not right.
2. All souther state chief ministers, headed by then AP chief minister Chandra Babu Naidu requested central governement to stop re-drawing MP seats based on the population. The population growth is very less in souther states than northern ones. South- states argued that they will loose the seats; it is a punishment for controling the population.

It is a fact. U can search in google to get the news items.

- I hope i show the mirror. U can see your face now.
- Regards
Sundar

My Dear Educated brothers and sisters, please go through the statistics..Karnataka is only going to release additional 12 tmc nothing more ..so please understand the figures first.
Politicians only wants to gain a mileage pl understand details of verdict before becoming violent on media publications.
Total water generated by cauvery in karnataka on average rain fall - 462 TMC.
In this karnataka share - 270 TMC - 58.44%
TN share - 182 TMC - 39.45%
To sea - 10 TMC - 2.1%
Total water generated by cauvery in Tamilnadu.on average rain fall - 270TMC
TN share - 237 TMC -87.1%
Kerala - 30 TMC -11.1%
Pondicherry - 7 TMC - 1.2%
Sea - 3 TMC - 0.6%
WATER FROM TN CAUVERY BELT DOES NOT FLOW IN REVERSE DIRECTION TO KARNATAKA.

Please understand and dont go by big figures(419TMC) of TN(as the more water to it is got from its own catchment).

Here a balance is drawn to utilise water more resourcefully for agriculture.

Being an Andhrite who has lived in Bangalore and Chennai and now in Hyderabad, I am neutral in this dispute but would like it solved because ultimately its a national issue. I think this verdict is fair.

This Verdict is Totally wrong. Cauvery originates in Karnataka and karnataka is going to have less alocation. Totally absurd!!!
This is going to create tension between the two states. The persons who have given this verdict are headless!!

Do you think the much awaited verdict is Headless?

The tribunal has taken this decision after 16years of research and every one is mature enough to think what is right and what is wrong.

Man has a very short life. In the melee all this fights and qualms... Be an INDIAN. Not a Kannadiga or Tamilian. Everyone on this land is the son/daughter of Mother India. Every body has the right any where......

where vud india be without its states...
u owe something to ur mother/motherland before u even think abt becoming an indian. india has always boasted of 'unity in diversity'. Aren't u swaying away from this. there is diversity and will always be. unity is something which comes when everyone gets a fair share and everyone is equal.

the decision is absurd. karnATaka's plan o expand its agricultural land will remain a dream forever. farmers will die, committing suicide and you are boasting of being indian and on top being proud of it.

Don't have anti-national feeling
by kumar on Feb 05, 2007 08:17 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

In my comments yesterday, i said there was nothing wrong with TN asking for 562tmc ft of water. This was based on their needs. Karnataka has always been anti-national and not wanted to share its water. Up-stream states all need to share their water whether in drought or not. If in drought, then they can share less and I am sure that the tribunal had taken all that into account.

Karnataka cable operator blacking out Tamil channels is very ant-national. We are all one Indians but blacking out any language based on inter-state disputes shows that most of these Karnataka cable operators are thinking like Pakistanis.

What if TN stops electricty to Karnataka. Even though this is paid for by Karnataka as electricty is not free, the lost revenue due to lack of electricity is much much more than what gets paid in electricty revenue to TN.

Hi Kumar,

What do you mean by Anti-National, do you know the meaning of the words that you are saying?
1. Does any corner of Tamilnadu theatre has Kannada films released?
2. Does any of Tamil people knows how to behave with other language people when they come to Tamilnadu?
3. Have Tamilians spoke any other language when an strangers comes? these people has spoke english rather than any other INdian Regional Langauge, do you people think are you English is more important that any other Regional Language? when you say we are all Indian first think are you? are you behaving like an Indian?

see at Karnataka people they speak with what ever the language which that stranger knows, we have given permission to release Tamil films in our place so that Karnataka-Tamils should not feel that they are away from their Native.

See the politics that is played in TN, do they know human behavior, humanity?
We know them far better than TN people,
when you say some thing then here we can also say the things in the way what we need.

Balaji

actually, you can watch Kannada movies in TN. In fact, even Telugu movies is big in TN when I was there. Its based on population desire not on regional fanatism. Theres lots of Tamil Brahmins who ae happy with this decision on Cauvery. I have watched many Bollywood movies in TN. No one in TN has showed animosity towards me for being North Indian. I can't speak Tamil whatsoever.

The Cauvery does not end in Biligundulu
by on Feb 05, 2007 07:03 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The rain in Kerala comes down to the Kabini dam, when there is excess rainfall, why do you release the shutters ?!?!?!?

All the water should be used inside Karnataka and only when all the Dams are full and when you cannot store any more, you will drain into Tamilnadu.

You would be happy to have the dams in full capacity even at the end of the season, so that you have fuller capacity as emergency. ( what will happen if rains fail next year ??? )

Farmers using the cauvery upto the stretch at Biligundulu are owners and what about the other doing same profession down in Tamilnadu ?

The verdict given is only for 192 tmc. Month wise break up is also given.

But every one is responding with message, who are not farmers.
