I believe there are provisions in the constitution to impose emergency in such situations. No one has the guts in the center to call a spade a spade.Of course, there are people in all communities that are prone to extremism but it does not mean that majority extremism is overlooked as a democratic expression while the entire minority community is demonised for the activities of a few people.

Dear Rajesh Haria,
As you said, you don't know about politics & interested in it too, Kindly gather a little knowledge about it before feeling shame. Kindly get some information how Muslims had started riots when modi government was trying to implement order of court for removal of encrochment, for which three temples had been demolised. But Congress had closed eyes from all these & shamelessly blamed Modi government.

right, so could that also not mean that the state law enforcement and judiciary is more likely to convict a muslim? Your statement assumes fairness of the state machinery. I think asraf is trying to make the opposite point.

Why this article posted in Rediff????.
Don%u2019t try to play feelings of Gujarati people.
Each and every word is false statement of author. Muslims are happily leaving in Gujarat. I think Syed Firdaus Ashraf need a mental treatment.
God bless you mr. Author

Muslims are happily leaving in Gujarat -- leaving gujarat? That's Ashraf's point, right? Living in guj? Is that your opinion (looks like it) or is it based on data? Asraf's interviews (assuming he and rediff are ethical) seems to suggest that there are at least a few muslims getting the short end of the stick from modi... hy is it shameful to report this?

SHORTSIGHTED MUSLIMS
by Krish Koundy on Dec 11, 2007 06:33 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I do symthasize with these muslim citizens who are suffering. But how can they forget that Modis emerfgence is purely becuase of Godra Tran bburning and attrocities of Muslim leaders in the past. They must also know the attroricites of Muslims against Kashmiri Hindus and Islamic Malaysia suppression of Hindus in that country. Why should any religion sit like a duck and accept islamic violance? It is time for these muslims to introspect. What are they doing to educate the own community against Islamic fundamentalism. They dont have right to speak against Modi if they themselves dont change.

Rediff should abstain from 'paid-by' articles
by jigar shukla on Dec 11, 2007 06:33 PM  Permalink

I suggest rediff to ensure highest professional conduct and to abstain publishing any article which represents personal opinions of any author; or are propagated in their own interests by political parties, both paid/unpaid to carry the article, or otherwise subjected to discriminate for/against a select group of people, especially at the crucial juncture of elections.
I again urge rediff to remain un-biased on the above subject.
