If 'no one is above the law'then how come state ministers are allowed to et away scot free when it has ben actually proved that they have been behind genocide of their own citizens and openly advocated murder and destruction of the homes of innocent civilians.why cant these ministers be tried and arrested. Is there a special law for them. Kode is a hypocrite and a liar.He should be tried for lying.

Judge Kode should be try for lying and you should get medal for truth? Wake up mate. People (mostly from your religion) kills so many innocent in the name of religion, We never find more than a few handful muslims to condemn this. And when your community is attacked ( by the way, I oppose that, no innocent person should be killed or harmed for any damn reason, and I don't support bombay violence irrespictive of whether more hindus were killed or more muslims were killed, after all we are all India if you agree) lot of you come and demand justice. Don't be hipocrates. I agree with your demand to justice and punish who killed your community members, but at the same token, you also should demand justice for those hindus who get killed everyday in diferent part of country and in kashmir in the name of jihad. I hope you would appreciate this.

sorry my friend. It is your people who daily preach hate revenge and murder against muslims. These muslims are defenceless owing to their poverty and insecurity of life. How can they pose a danger to the affluent powerful 86% strong hindu community? They doint have a powerful organisation so that they systematically plan and attack you. First of all why do u talk of 'your people and our people'. This only shows how bad your thinking is.Arent we all indians living under the same roof the same law the same climate sharing the same political system?People follow different religions even if they live in the same coutry.Take the example of the usa and uk. This is what makes a decent democracy. Why r u so intolerant? Muslims are proud citizens of india and will defend india with all their heart. They have been a part of india since the 11th century. So why dou look at them as if they are some different speicies or aliens. It is your kind of thinking that reflects the teachings of your political masters. They are the true destroyers of india not the poor citizens whom u call 'your people'.people like kode obviously belong to your political party and are doing their 'duty'.

Pace of Justice...
by SatyaMeva Jayate on Aug 04, 2007 03:57 PM

I more or less agree with all the points made by TVRS. What I can't agree is the statement "It also underlines the leisurely pace of justice in India.".

I am not a big fan of Indian Judiciary. But, in this trial, I must congratulate the judge and the TADA court. The judge Khode was tireless. He had not taken a single day off through out the last one and half decade. (Other than when he was forced to be at home when he had a bone relocated). He has effectively shown the way how a trial of this nature needs to be conducted. Hats off to him!!!

This needs to be seen in conjunction with other big terrorist trials happening around the world.
Canada is yet to try one terrorist for Air India bomb blast.
The mighty US is still groping for Osama and company.

His Majesty Khode has shown a way to the world.

When Bihar is affected in flood i think media, can concentrate in bihar. If even does not have money to support his family then who else will have money.Shame on him.He should have accepted the verdict and gone to jail.
He has done nothing for India.
He has earned everything for his family.
Goto Jail Lage Raho will be his nxt film title.

A person whose has acted in films like munna and Lage Raho is also acting in front of the court.
Each criminal has his wife, sis ,... pregnant.
When they do not put such a drama,Mr.Sanju just thought his director has called for a shot and started over acting

Everbody has a family,so many are langushing injail.why is sonia gandhi bothered about sanjay.even a school kid knows one should not possess a AK Rifle.

If film fratenity is against the sentence, there is no necessity of a judicial system, bcz everbody can realise their mistakes or act otherwise.

Very true
by sg sg on Aug 04, 2007 11:25 AM

I think Shenoy hit the nail on tha head. Its the media which is making him look like a victim. If a comon man had a assult rifle would the same media and brainless actors who are rallying around him do the same. I understand tat Sunil Shetty and Shah Rukh Khan are planning a morcha / demo is in support. This guy was caught with an assult rifle which is not a toy, it kills people. He flaunts his connection with the underworld and so do his friends. So why are we even bothering to waste time with him. He deserves the jail term which I think is a slap on the wrist.

Sad state of affairs.
by Disco King on Aug 04, 2007 07:45 AM

For the common man in India, or for the poor man there is absolutely no justice or hope for justice. Middle class people get fooled and their hopes are raised when an example is set. There is no denial of what Sanjay did is very wrong, and it should not be a surprise, but, there remain billions of downtrodden poor Indians who will never see justice whilst alive.

Punishment after 13 years deserved but not 6 yrs. Maybe 1 yr. additional
by Sandeep on Aug 04, 2007 02:37 AM  | Hide replies

Please look deeply at the circumstances of why guns were acquired.
This article is pretty much a long talk with short facts. Basically meant to be emotional guide for gullible people.
I will go para wise and put the points as mentioned and connection to this case.
1st Para - Introduction
2nd - Shenoy's opinion
3rd %u2013 Again his personal opinion.
4rth %u2013 Just some rambling and some disparaging remarks. As if sensible people are allowed to carry AK-56.
5th %u2013 Mr. Shenoy seems to agree that judge did not convict him as a terrorist. Even though he seems to agree with a heavy heart.
6th %u2013 Good point, judgement after so long time seems to kill the meaning of reforming someone. But still nothing related to why sanjay should get more punishment.
7th %u2013 hmm, is he trying to say Sanjay was threatening Nikam? Totally unrelated and trying to mislead the gullible.
8th and 9th %u2013 Drink and drugs have nothing to do with this case in TADA court. Some people may stress out more if their mothers died when they were 20 than others and everyone might do something different. Unrelated though..
10th %u2013 Yes, he was talking to Chota Shakeel, a mistake no doubt. They were old aquaintance. A few months punishment for this would suffice?
11th %u2013 Where is any one talking about Sanjay being a role model for youth? Actually he can be looked upon as an example of things not to do.
12th %u2013 Trying to bring in bombay blasts is actually misleading. He was not involved with that as per any investigation.

I completely agree. Mr.Shenoy is looking only on Sunjay Dutts case. If the situation was that all the bog babus who openly flaunt arms during elections and have contact with the goons are behind bars, True Mr.Shenoy has a point. As long as this is true , Mr.Shenoy, no point tryi ng to pull up someone just to show that the law is above all. True, above Sanju and rest of us. Not above the politicians and goons

Well u need to wake up mister!!!! Handing out 6 years term to a man who JUST procured an assault rifle i s not fair. It does'nt matter if he's Dutt, Bachchan or some Shenoy or even me.What about all those gansters turned MP's or MLA's who have gunned down so many innocent people and no one has the guts to even lay a finger on them. And I think Rediff should think twice before allowing an IDIOT like you to post on their website.

Dear Sanjeev,

Lets take for instance your friend or relative buys a gun, and he is caught. And he's handed out a sentence for 6 years and he's never used that gun. Now will you still laud the Indian judicary systm, wil you still blab about being an Indian. 6 years wasted. A year or 2 were justified. Just because he is famous so the system needs to make an example. What about all those desi kattas doing round of criminal society???????????????

I agree with you Amreesh. As per the judgement, Sanjay is not involved in Bambay blasts and his only offence is to posses assault riffle without license. I think, almost all the MPs and MLAs in UP, Bihar, AP ... will have similar wepons and are never questioned.
Looks like the judge in his intentions to project an extreamly fair and unbiased image for himself has victimised Sanjay.
