Why so late...
by SK on Aug 02, 2007 11:38 PM

Good to see that the law in india is respected atlast - though it takes 14 years to punish a clearly convicted criminal.
Funny part is it took 14 years to complete the case and the punishment is only 6 years.
Anyways , good to see that India in not a complete lawless country and there is a glimmer of hope that maybe sometime in future everybody will be equal before law...

Great Article by Mr Shenoy...! Why should Sanjay Dutt be pardoned ????
by BostonPunekar on Aug 02, 2007 11:37 PM

I TOTALLY AGREE with Mr Shenoy. If Paris Hilton has to spend a month in jail just for a drive under alcohol offence and have her license suspended for a year, It shows the power of Judiciary in the US that keeps the faith of people on it.

Comming to Mr Sanjay Dutt..What was he doing with 2 AK 56? and Granedes that to some 46 of them??? Do you need those as something that you buy off hand just like that as a Vada pav or a Bhutta??? Do common people of hand talk and pay visits to Chota Shakeel? To Dawood ? To Anees Ibrahim? to Abu Salem?

Do the most feared gangsters like Abu Salem visit our houses regularly to delever arms or to pick them up???

If you have sucha well elaborate credentials? Why in the first place should you expect that you be pardoned?

If the same list of offenses that Sanjay Dutt has commited was commited by a common man he by this time would have been bumped by either rival gangs or would have been "encountered" by the Mumbai Police.

If we do not have respect for the Law of land and pardon each and every persons just because they behave well now so do you pardon them for the crimes commited by them 14 years ago?

What abt the 500 killed people and the 3000 permanantly disabled surviors of the 1993 Mumbai Blasts who have lived every day in misery and who waited 14 years for justice???

Can doing good deeds now bring back the lives taken 14 years ago?? Should you pardon them now?? Atleast I disagree on that.

Justice should prevail.

I truly agree with you that no body is above law. But you should have some sense of pardon and try to boost Sanjay dutt's sincerety. And i beleive that he has done enough good work in these past 14 years. No doubt he was associated with some anti-elements, but we should not forget that sanjay dutt is not bad human being. And i would like to mention you that he was influenced by these radicals.you have to understand the human psychology. After all we are not god. There are hundreds and thousands of politicians and beuracrats who have connections with the these radicals and terrorist and till date they are catering to their needs vis-a- versa...I would request the our Judiciary to take care of them aswell. I would request the judiciary, please forgive..i am sure he will com as more dignified human in future.

It seems like you know him personally, to know about all his good deeds. The rest of the public only knows about his drugs usage, keeping unlawful fire arms and liaison with the gangsters. If you support him this much, why don't you join him in prison? People like you needs to be condemned more than the offenders themselves. They do it because you guys support their acts. You are lucky that the judiciary excercises control over the law abiding mass that you guys are still alive. You people don't deserve to be.

What a butt load of bull... have you gone bonkers? Try doing that yourself and see where you land. Have sense and appreciate that no one is above the law.

Justice prevailed! Otherwise I would have lost faith in Indian judiciary. Well done sir Justice Kode! Long live India.

very sensible but.
by Libran on Aug 02, 2007 11:28 PM  | Hide replies

Very sensible article and I fully agree with autors opinion about justice is for all.
But, author started the article saying that too much attention has been given to Sanjay. Ironically, this article too contributes to that and will probably create even more controversy at least in the discussion board here to ensure this topic is quite live and kicking.

Perhaps that is to awaken us with this fact..we are too much obsessed with bollywood and the actors and actresses..the galm world...perhaps we should concentrate on issues that directly affects our daily matter..as for S.Dutt, the court has done its job and is rightful in every manner..

Not just Dutt - the IB minister is a greater crook
by Debmalya Ghosh on Aug 02, 2007 11:23 PM

How does the IB minister comment in Dutt's support. I remember a rally where he was being humiliated by the opponent party CPM by having pet dogs named after him! Priyaranjan Dasmunshi had then quit Congress few months back and vowed never to return. He had said, 'amar naame kukur pushben jodi congress e phiri' - if I ever return to Congress party then keep pet dogs named after me. This is the standard of our politicians. What surpises me most is there are people who vote for these scums of society. They should all be brought to justice. PRD is a shame for Bengal. He even dared to dismiss the Mukherji commission investigation in NSC Bose disappearance case, supporting the Khosla commission report. Shame on Howra voters, for voting him in power. Even these public members should be deprived from their right to 'vote?'

God bless judge Kode

Honesty or dishonesty?
by s deshpande on Aug 02, 2007 11:18 PM

Saying in the Court that he was drunk and so he did not remember anything at all about his telephonic talk with the underworld person may not mean honesty. On the contrary, it may have been a good camouflage to escape admitting such talk; admit he had to because the police must have had ample proof of the telephone call.

Well Said
by Saurabh Bhattacharya on Aug 02, 2007 11:17 PM

It is high time media should do an introspection and find out the problems it faces. Impartiallity should be the hallmark of journalism but commercialization has corrupted media too. The Hindi electronic mass media like Aaj Tak, Star News and Zee News are bringing journalism to its lowest ebb.
