"The tragedy with India is that successive governments have ignored one fact of life --India has been at war for many decades now. This is not an enemy who will come at you over the Khyber Pass; this is an invisible enemy who uses your own resources, your own freedoms, your own laxities, to hit at you. If you don't stop him first, he will stop you.".......i agree.....this invisible enemy can do more harm to us than the enemy we can see.

You are absolutley right ARTI, we are in proxy war. To fight this many agencies across the nations should join. Than means a tough leadership, not the guys who change their stance every voting season.
Other way of fighting is build a division in army which is expert in guerilla warfare. Such a division will be more focussed, autonomous less intefered and covert. The basics of the proxy war is fight from inside and live like a civilian.
Dont know why so many so-called learned and highly educated folks cant understand such a basic need. If they already did then lets get it going.
If it is already in process the please make sure that you build something which is effective and not for the name-sake.
Recruit able, young and motivated blood. You will not see results right away but it will be something which will payoff lot more in long run.
India has diverse and talented human capital, use it for this good cause. I think from the time all bueracratic crap and paperwork is done it will take about 3 yrs for a team to be effective and operational. Unlike RAW this team needs to smaller and decentralised with access to national resources. Pretty much like these Terrorist Cell
Well said. Enough is Enough. However, for that there has to be unity, a political will and a burning passion to safeguard and further the interest of the nation.
Time and again we see that it is only the public that is reacting - it is high time the government machinery swung into action too.
Let us prove ourselves worthy of the independence that we got almost sixty years back

I disagree with your point Jai Hind. Under no circumstances India should declare an official war on any other nation specially Pakistan. Instead they should take more strict measures of preventing illegal people from entering Mumbai through railways. Anyone can travel without a ticket because almost 90% of TC's are corrupt. Even if we did declare war, the muslim communities in India will be even more angry and hate Indians more.

Heloo, my dear Patriot! You are more worried of Muslims feeling than the people who lost their loved ones in any railway stations on the western line in Mumbai! Why should Muslims of India worry/feel bad if we attack Pak to stop terrorism? Are they getting their food and water supplied from Pak?? Go and see with your own eyes(if you have a pair!) the tragedy in Mumbai! Then decide! Imagine, Patriot! Any body from your own family travelling in the 1st class bogie of that trains on that day, would you say the same bloody words?? I don't know which country's patriot are you?!

Attacking Pakistan directly will be foolish. Even the mightiest of powers in modern world eg. USA RUSSIA UK China and others have never actualy gone terrorist hunting in another powerful country's soveriegn terrorities. They have always relied on clandestine operations within other countries. That is what we ought to do. Infiltrate the the terror networks in others lands and destroy them from within. And comparing the US conflict with Iraq is equating India pounding a far away little country say E. Timor (sorry East Timorians No Offence Meant/ This is just an EXAMPLE) which may not even have one airplane that could threaten our forces. That argument has no merit. This war with terrorism cannot be won with brawls only. It will require a lot of functional BRAINS.
I feel that the Indian Govt is being run by spineless politicians who in their own interests have left the nation to rot..
How long will these ppl in the corridors of Power look the other way??Isnt it time something was done..Some truly direct action was taken??
People in the US live in a sense of security whereas here the common man lives everyday in fear as to what might happen..
International criticism be damned..India needs to show that she cannot be taken for granted..
People who commit such acts cannot understand peace, which is why they carry out such attacks in the first place..
India can learn a thing or two from Israel, which inspite of its small size knows when to flex its muscles..
Neighbours who carry out horrific attacks and murder innocent people are to be considered as enemies..Its time we stopped bending backwards to please the world..

In the meantime we are taking statics about the number of Muslims in the army judiciary etc with the hope that the militants will not attack us.
The great Raja of Mandal has not bothered to even condemn the blast he is busy after spending crores of public money forming the third front. Our great secularists are all hiding afraid that they might have to take sides

i think war against terrorism shd be declared. our immediate task is to put our own house in order.there is urgent need of completely rewamping the security measuresour police force is just not sufficient for this task. what we need is volunteers dfrom all walks of life who can give their life for safety of fellow citizens a 24 hour vigil on public transport, public institutions, market places is what we need.besides a complete clean up of unwanted elements from the city, systems to check inflitration into the city issue of identity cards to immigrants.........

Prashant,
Great views!!! Keep it up!!!! Start a protest march. The reason for protest is, we are marathis and not indians. We have a separate fight with terroists. You are not condemning 200 deaths and 700 injuries, but forcing India to be divided. Good job, keep it up!!!! Great going, wish you all the best. Are you trying to say that u condemn only the marathis who have died and not your fellow indians. We are condeming all those mumbaikars who have died and injured and the families that have gone through traumas. Mumbaikars means the people who stays in mumbai to be precise. Time and again guys like you are responsible for these racism. For a change, think you are an Indian.

Condolences to all those families who have lost their loved ones, without whom their life wont be same again as it was b4 this attack.
Regarding the reaction to these brutal attacks, the instant reaction that comes when seeing innocent people suffering is nothing but using all the resources and force to just stop those who are responsible for these inhuman acts .What can be done is very much different from what is done to stop these people. When such attacks take place its always normal civilians who are victim of it .Whether it be natural calamity or any such inhuman deeds its always civilians who have to face all the troubles.Any government or their people dont face the daily challanges what these normal people face.Their house and office is under heavy security in any point of the day but for normal people its only he who is responsible for his security and for his family's security. So when all these plan of action and what policy should be applied to stop all this and what not is talked about its of no meaning if every once in a while civilians die and suffer because of unkown enemies of human life.

My dear friend, As far as my understanding goes, Maharastra is a part of India and so is Mumbai city, do you want to make it a separate country? If not, then what kind of infiltrations are you talking about? What makes you feel that people from other parts of the country or states should not be allowed in Mumbai? What are the work permits you are talking about? Work permit is only given to people (foreign nationalites) when they go to work to other nations. Today we are talking about national integration and not divide people. Our motive should be to fight terrorism and not to make their vision a reality, which, if gone your way, the terrorists will achieve with ease.
These terrorists take religion just as umbrella to safe guard them. Can you tell me which religion in this world gives the permission to kill innocent people, children and old people who died in the blast. I don't feel the foundation of any religion is so weak that a few bunch of idiots can shake its foundation. Lets all unite to fight terrorism, we tried it by peace, but if they want it by war, so be it.These terrorists have only one religion thats "BARBARISM". Always remember "TO-GETHER WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL"

i agree with abhi, we shud allow all indians to come to bombay.we shud allow all biharis, UP GUYS who already fill up half bombay , to come here settle in bombay, and then complain of crowded trains, dirtiness everywhere. great views , surely u are not from bombay, come to bombay, dare to catch local trains in mornings, dare to walk on the roads in the morning time when the biharis sit on all corners of the road for their morning toilet stuff, then u will know why we speaking this way

This is not the time to declare autonomy for Maharashtra!!! The solution you propose will just help to harass true indians and not to stop the terrorists. The resources for our IB need to be beefed up and have a better coordination between various agencies and State Police

I completly agree with Mr Mahajan's point of view. No one should be allowed into Mumbai, especially if his surname is not Mahajan or Shinde. Not only there should be a war against Pakistan, but also Marathis should wage a war with rest of India. And better still, Mumbaiker's wage a war against rest of Maharashtra.
If still terorrism doesnt end, we should not allow anyone from colaba to come to Mahim. And Thane guys should forget stepping into Bandra.
So all those Indians, calling for war, if you are not Marathis we dont care. You are not welcome in Mumbai. You speak for yourself not us. Because marathis have their own war to fight against terorrism and Pakistan. Thats not the same as your war. Disunited we stand, united we fall. Jai Maharashtra.
PS : We have agreed to count Shahrukh Khan as a non- muslim, John Abraham as a 'kattar' Hindu and Amitabh Bachahan and Aishwariya Rai as Marathis, because we dont want to lose them . The rest of non-marathis, please show your ID card and take the next flight or train out of Mumbai. Thats the war on terror. I am sure you will agree with me Mr Mahajan. After all I am learning from you.

brother attack is the best defense try to understand , for ex if someone attack in your home you wont tight your security you will attck the attackers , so your country is your home mind it.
Nothing is going to happen. Till the political parties learn not to count the votes on relegious factionalism, things are going to remain same. They will shade crocodile tears. They will make statements like We will fight terrorism etc.. (Remeber "Naani yaad dila denge"). The vultures will swoop upon Mumbai so that their photographs will get published in the Newspapers. They will then appoint an Enquiry commission and forget about it. Even if the culprits get caught, the case will be lost in the huge pile up of cases the judiciary is already burdened with...... It is a sorry state of facts but that is the truth.
I fully support thoughts prevailed in the article. We have every right to fight our "war" against terrorism.Remember, people who harm others are guilty, but those who bear this are "more guilty". I salute the guy who wrote this article.
