Mumbai Blasts
by ANJUM SHAIKH on Jul 12, 2006 07:13 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Why dont we just get rid of Kashmir. How many more innocent people will the politicians kill. We must accept it that nearly 60 years since independence we have not made any progress with regards to Kashmir. It is not an asset anymore but a liability on which we are wasting our resources. We should concentrate more on the Indian economy and we can begin with providing potable drinking water and basic neccissaties to the people living in villages, rather than waste it our resources over a place like Kashmir. I deally it should be an independent state like Switzerland where Indians and Pakistanis should be allowed to travel freely without any visa restrictions. If any of the sides were to try an annexe it then UN/US should intervene.

Land is always precious part of our national body. People have sacrificed their lives in order to protect their homeland. You are discrediting those who have laid down their lives to defend and protect our country by making such comments.

What are you saying, that India deserves these terrorist attacks simply because India is holding on to Kashmir? That's what it sounds like. India won't bow to movement based on religious hatred and ethno-chauvinism. Ever!

Will we ever fight?
by Rana Dutta on Jul 12, 2006 07:12 PM  Permalink

How can we the citizens of India expect that, India will fight the terrorists!! We need a foreign lady to hold our PM's little finger to guide him, who has no authority. And that PM has got a Home Minister who reads out a statement instead of talking from his heart. Hearts of our ministers including our PM do not bleed for the citizens. The PM has asked the Home Minister to submit the report and his job is over. The Home Minister said he will collect the information from the concerned officials and his job is over too. And we the citizens will have to wait for such reports (if any / which will be of no use) and in the process we will heal our wounds and should get ready to face some more terrorists attack somewhere else. Let it be UPA or NDA, the citizens have to fight their own battle. MAY GOD SAVE THIS COUNTRY

enough is enough

I fully endorse the views expressed by Saisuresh in his article. If the road to peace has to be travelled through war we should boldly walk the path. Our politicians and all of us are equally responsible for the miserable state the nation is in today. If the politicians dont have the balls / ability to stand tall and act in the interest of the nation we should explore the next best option of handing over the reins to our armed forces. Our current and future political leadership does not and will never have the strength to stand and confront our neighbouring poverty ridden countries and their leaders who derive pride in subjecting us to such gastly acts of terror.
Its time our armed forces wake up and think of protecting the nation from the grip of coroupt politicians.

I agree with the author that after 9/11 in usa they took the precaution which we are unable to take. There are various factor which we can not take these precaution basically some of the citizen supporting the terriost and the law which is not so powerfull to punish the culprit.

As accurate as it can get !
by Animish Nadgauda on Jul 12, 2006 07:10 PM  Permalink

As usual, Saisuresh has come up with another magnificent piece. The author, in very few words, aptly describes the apathy that is prevelant in India in general, and in the Indian government, in particular.
Unfortunately, the rules of the game are very different for Indians and Americans. An attack on India, is no doubt condemned by the rest of the civilised world, but any offensive action on part of India, is sure to raise discomfort in America and the rest of the western world. It seems to me that, the price of an Indian death is far less as compared to that of an American.
Having said that, India is at fault, in the sense that, our leaders literally want the war on terrorism to operate from Washington DC. This is something that is never going to happen. United States, like any other country, has its own selfish interests, and rightly so. So although the American president is sure to make fiery rhetoric regarding this incident, America's indifference will continue. It will continue, till, Indian leaders show some spine in dealing with this menace. If they don't, India will continue to weep.

by jay on Jul 12, 2006 07:08 PM  Permalink

It is high time that the nation wakes up and takes stance. if we are principally a Hindu Rashtra then let us not shy from stating and acting so. this does not mean that we lose the secular touch but instead of pretending state and be what we are.

Can anyone bring out the plight of Hindus in Pakistan? do we hear their voice at alll!!!!!!!

Look at the situation of Kashmir.....

thanks to the CONGRESS for making us a coward nation

Its time to react.
by KETAN SAWANT on Jul 12, 2006 07:07 PM  Permalink

I strongly feel that it is only coz of the attitude of us mumbaikar's to forget things and get along with life as if nothing has happened that we have to face such huge manmade disasters. It feel that we are too self centered. If we dont change our attitude, this might not be the last time we are hearing such a news. Sorry to say but our politicians are just taking preventive actions after things have happened and not corrective measures to ensure that such things dont happen. We have to be firm enough while taking the decisions required. Finding kilo's of RDX is not a sufficient enough security measure but the authorities have to attack the root cause from where these ideas have evolved. Even going to the extent of waging war against such organisations or countries where these ill ideas emerge from. What have we got in return against the immense friendship that we have shown towards Pakistan. Some hard realities about our relation have to be accepted.
But I truely feel that none of our political parties are ready to add the WAR chapter to there tenure of work. This is coz of the coalition and the related insecurity of there positions that they face themselves.

Re- Enough is Enough
by Saminder Singh on Jul 12, 2006 07:06 PM  Permalink

I agree with u Swamy. It has been years since we have been acting as mook spectators to all the attacks that have taken in our country, knowing fully well, who has been behind them.

It really hurts when time & again we see several people being killed as a result of these attacks & all the govt. does is set up committees to review the security.

Though i couldn't catch the news of the recent blasts on TV, i read it in papers. But the immediate reaction was that of shock & shame both at the same time.

We really have suffered enough on the hands of our neighbours. Its high time we retaliate in some stern manner, and show them what we are made of, rather than be silent spectators to all this s**t.

No war, we are a peaceful nation. So what if any one can come and hit is us, we are the worshipers of non-voilence.Actually this is our fault that we are living in a country where we have eleceted leaders with no guts.
