Very nice article Sai..and I completely agree with you..its time for people to wake up...We indians always want to pacify things and take the easier way out rather than face things upfront...Sometimes it works...sometimes it doesnt.. Clearly this time it hasnt worked...Its time for some action...
My first reaction to the blasts was precisely what Siva has penned. But soon the impossibility of it dawned that one can't fight a war with a war, especially when confronted by inhuman fanatics and especially as its one of the two things they want. the other that we divide the country and the world on communal lines. What then is the alternative? To start with, lets unite as a country and stand behind the political establishment in calming the country down. Then, lets pressurise our political establishment to come up with various alternatives we have and I am confident that our country with its abundant high level IQ would come up with a plan to demolish these demons from within and without further loss of lives & property of hard working Indians. Lets pay our taxes and let the plan be operationalised. The first pre-requisite though is to unite and be good Indians
Excellent article. This was a TERRORIST ATTACK. This was not an act of nature. How can people limp back to normalcy???? Are 8 bombings NORMAL? My beloved city now has a history of bombings!!!!!
I wept yesterday as I saw the images and read about the resilience of Mumbaikars, as terrorists bombed trains that I once took, and places that I visited. This appeasement has got to stop. Truly, if this does not shake up the nation, nothing ever will.
There was a time when I used to get extremely angry whenever cowardly faceless terrorists butchered my fellow countrymen in the name of religion. But after the umpteenth and one of the most horrendous terrorist strikes in Mumbai, my anger has been replaced by a sense of shame, helplessness and impotence. TV images of Mumbaites helping each with food and water during the first few hours after the blasts did not evoke any warmth in me. Such scenes actually made us Indians only look pathetic and hopeless. Is this all that we can do when attacked by our enemies? Describe our misfortune in broken voices, help each other with food and water, maybe donate some blood and and finally offer our condolences to families of our dead friends? Just imagine how exhilarated the terrorists who perpetrated this carnage must be feeling watching the results of their handiwork on live TV secure in the knowledge that the Indian government has no political will to bring them to book, standing as it is on the two legs of communism and minorityism. Today every Indian should hang his head in shame and yes, bend over to give more pleasure to the Islamists. That's what our pseudo-secularism has reduced us to.
Look at Israel on how they handle terrorism. We need to attack where them wherever they are - Pakistan, Kashmir or Baluchistan. India should send Agni's after them, no point talking peace.
All these years, I am grownup thinking that India is great country with great people in past, however current situation...really makes me think 10 times, before I feel proud about. Itś really disgusting and humiliation and ...filling life with guilt seeing things like this happenning in India, and not able to do/change anything in this worst politically managed India
No religion prohibts one to fight back the terror or threat. Its hightime we fight back make pakistan kneel. This is not about money, ecomony... its about Self respect... We cant sit back and play the card of patience. Lets not show it as Weakness
Hi! The article by Sivaswamy is truly worth reading. It is true that after 9/11 there is no terrorist attack on US soil, but after 1993 there are many in Mumbai. What US has done and India did not? The intelligence gathering is the main weapon by which you can avoid the incident. What IB and RAW is doing?? It is shame to hear a Home Minister accepting the failure of Intelligence. The intelligence word is not so prevalent in India as in US. After 9/11 there are so many changes in FBI and CIA. It is time now forIndian Govt to rethink or restucture IB and RAW. If you can not gather information if a City what you will do to a whole country.
But believe me as much as the politicians, it is us public also who is to be blamed for this.
We vote/not vote these good for nothing politicians to power, but when it comes to doing something for the public, they are always cutting corners.
Now it is upto us to know what is right and what is wrong and learn that every educated and learned person should also go to vote, so that somebody with some dignity and real zest to work for the country gets voted.
All these in power at the moment are voted by poor public who are forced to vote by the lure of money.
I totally agree with your views. These terrorist activities are meant to be dealt with utmost force and severity, so that these demented cowards would never have the guts to ever perpetrate such crimes again.
The US policy of not negotiating with terrorists is an excellent example of how we can take a stand, but when we have spineless, uneducated, morons as our hallowed leaders, what can we expect...All we ever get is stupid condemnations and each party trying to gain points by blaming the other one.
These fatted, corrupt politicians sit in the comfort of their ill gotten wealth with top security at the tax-payers expense and watch like fools while the same tax-payers are regularly slaughtered.
It is a pity that we sit quiet and tolerate these idiotic leaders we have. They should all be flogged to death in public.
