No to war but YES to assassination squads
by Praveen on Jul 13, 2006 03:25 AM  Permalink

Like Israel or USA why can't we have assassination/elimination squads.

Israel uses anything from missiles to assassination squads to eliminate threats to their country.

USA does not hesitate in kidnapping wanted persons from other countries (Italy-CIA incident).

We cannot attack Pakistan because it is no Iraq or Palestine. But WHY cannot we eliminate people like Dawood Ibrahim, murders & terrorists whom we know exactly where they are residing.

Jai Hind.

Proactive retaliation
by Aditya on Jul 13, 2006 03:25 AM  Permalink

Frankly the best way to retaliate against these groups would be adopt a pro active approach to battling international terror. For too long we have simply sat back and let the attacks just come at us in a way reminiscent of the invasions through Afghanistan and Central Asia. The best way would be to carry our pre emptive strikes in PoK in such a way so as not to escalate the overall situation. Another way would be to send troops to Afghanistan and attempt to destroy the remnants of the Taliban before they reorganise to target us again. We have to realise that a proactive approach is the only way to stop these attacks. Concerning oneself with root causes is unlikely to impede further attacks especially with an unseen enemy bent on genocide.

LOOK AT ISREAL
by Bharat on Jul 13, 2006 03:10 AM  Permalink

I agree with you. Don\'t just look at America also look at Isreal that for just one 19 Year Soldier they are fighting so hard to get him back & have almost Paralised life in Gaza City.I don\'t think that Indian Government will ever be able to do something similar as the politicians, folks & everone else has lost Patriotism. We have become corrupt & why should be just blame Politicians. The National Character is Lost in most of us that is why we just think of defending ourselves with Excuses of International Pressure & all that.I know by writing all this I am also not doing a great job but atleast just trying to put forward that if you will look at the History also we have Fought the Invaders to our Might maybe we might have lost the Battle but at least an effort was there to stop the invaders but there seems to be a easy pessage for all those who want intrude the life.I think the government should wake up & Look at America or isreal or even North Korea & Iran who are ready to fight the Mighty Americans for there Soverignity as they have a character & self respect which we as a Nation are Lacking. We have to be More Aggresive & just Talks only can nerver bring results.

I agree with the author. India has been trying to win over terrorist situations using peace but has failed miserably. Is India so naive?

Save Our Motherland
by bharat rakshak on Jul 13, 2006 02:45 AM  Permalink

Enough is not enough, you all venting your anger, if you seriously wish to do something for our motherland reply to this mail. It's time to unite because this country is made up of people like you and me and we have to protect our families if the state fails to protect its fellow citizens. Our self centric (nero) politicians will never ever do anything for this country our beloved motherland. They are mentally and physically impotent.

If required get ready to take so called law in your hands only to break it and take control of our own future, our kids future and ultimately this great nations' future.

OR else future generations will blame us for not acting for the cause. This is the time to act and not to chat.

Enough is Enough
by farida on Jul 13, 2006 02:39 AM  Permalink

Sai,

I agree with your views in this article.

I am an Indian first and a Muslim later. I am sick and tired of terror attacks in India funded by Pakistan.

However,I would hate to see the People of Pakistan suffer. I know that the average Pakistanis too are tired of the terrorists and want to get rid of them and go back to leading peaceful normal lives. It is the Politicians who are behind all this.

I liked the part about

" Till we turn around, realise that those who fight India in the name of religion do not represent the millions who practice that faith, and fighting the terrorists is not fighting the practitioners, we are condemned to suffer terrorist attacks"

Islam is a religion that preaches Peace. The terrorists who attack in the name of Islam have been misguided by a few who have twisted the preachings of Islam for their own gain.

let their be a war..
by saibaskar on Jul 13, 2006 02:33 AM  Permalink

From all its actions Pakistan is pulling us into a war which we do not want to fight.. After all our friendly gestures, this is the response we get.. What are we worried about? getting nuked? yes we've seen the pictures carried out in magazines frightening us how it would be if our city gets nuked.. but some where in few streets in mumbai that pain is already being felt.. it could have been our dear ones too.. a life is a life and if war is the solution iam ready for it.. coz if taken to extremes india will atleast exist after the war where as the same cannot be said about our neighbours. If they continue to provoke, they are doing it at their own peril.. So, i guess we need to support our govt to act stern.. and next time some arm chair analyst talks about friendship bullshit find him and kill him..
