Mr Siwaswami is very forceful in putting is argument but the argument is flawed. Using the response of USA to determine our response is like comparing apples to oranges. India is a very diverse country unlike the US. We have world's second largest Muslim population and I shudder to think what will happen if we adapt brick for brick strategy because this is a mass of people who is largely uneducated and poor and could be misguided by the Mullas, terrorists and their sponsors.
At the same time, I agree with him that we should take some steps which show that we mean business and not just indulge in empty rhetoric.
It is high time that we as a nation decide on course of action to deal with terrorism otherwise we will be doomed because our adversaries will take our inaction as our weakness and cowardice.
I totally agree with the view of Author. Being the person or nation harvesting peace does not mean to show tolerance to such barberous activities. These are not insane, but done with very thoughtful and planned objective. At this moment, we should unite and condemn such activities and reveal the feelings through concrete actions. Merely humming religious relics are not going to minimise the sufferings of affected.
Even at such events, the cool attitude and dutiful visits of national leaders did not say any concrete action being taken up to restrict such attacks. Existing govt is more worried about the g-8 summit and the opposition is wagging for GOVT HATAO ANDOLAN. Had there been any victims belonging to their family, the scenario would have been entirely different.
Now we all must think seriuosly where are we in this human world.
Long before the article has been written I have always believed that India need to be offensive against its hostile neighbours. The only reason why Pakistan keeps coming back with more destruction is that it percieves India to be a weak and comprimising country that readily and always accepts the misery and terrorism imposed on it. Bloody, already the time has crossed when India should have wiped out Pakistan from the map. It would have done a world of good not only to us as a nation but to the whole world. But even now its not very late. Btter to be laste than never. We cannot just feel proud of having the sophisticated weapons and missiles in our armour without using it. We need to use them now and target them at out enemies. India needs to desperately change its image and learn from the likes of US and Israel who never deter to wage a war against their enemies. India needs to respect the life of its citizens now and not let people die without any reason. We need to wake up URGENTLY as a nation and strike back against terror. One deciding war with the terrorism is due since a long time and its time we just GO FOR IT.
