Is war the only solution??
by Swati Mathur on Jul 13, 2006 12:45 PM  Permalink

what has been suggested in the article "enough is enough" is like a "copycat" solution!!! America could strike a war because the two countries did not share a common boundary wall!! This seems to be yet another applaud for Uncle Sam, which we Indians are so used to that we forget to take into consideration what our context is. Moreover, the politicians of our country, find it so convinient to blame it on the external factors that they overlook the cancerous growth of terrorism in our own soil. SIMI is one such organisationw which comprises of corrupted young minds. What the solution is and how it can be achieved cannot be as simplistic as war, there has to be a proper strategy at the political level and more importantly at the "personal" political level.

bomb blasts & gov attitude
by Annie on Jul 13, 2006 12:40 PM  Permalink

I agree with Saisuresh. It is time that our gov stops pussyfooting this issue & gets down to action. Let the security agencies get a free hand to rid our country of this despicable menace. How many more innocents have to die before the gov wakes up. The security to politicians etc should be removed. Then maybe they will act when they are at as much risk as the common man. The people, esp mumbaikars & J&K, have to act now & shake up the gov to act. The rest of us are there to support.

Mumbai Blasts

Subject-Catch and Punish the Criminals.

1. The recent spate of terrorist attacks in India and the Indian government's reactions do shows that we are still a soft state.
We dont give back the same kind of reply that a country like Israel gives.

THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

I do not mean that we reply by terror in response to terror. But a rogue state like Pakistan has to be kept under the thumb. Strongly and frimly. No compromises.

2. Like how Bush does in Iraq, we need to have active combing operations and 24 hours vigil and security police operations all over India, at least till this menace comes to an end.

3. Legal punishments have to be delivered without delay or mercy regardless of perceived retaliatory consequences from Pakistan and their terrorist groups. Justice delayed is justice denied.

THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

Kind Regards,

Sanjay Dixit

Enough is Enough
by rashneek on Jul 13, 2006 12:40 PM  Permalink

We are a moving mass of flesh and nothing more. There is no spark in us.Infact India is already Islamic Republic of India.Nowhere else in world would muslims have the kind of sops that they have in India. We have reservations in all institutions except for Muslim Universities.Isnt this ridiculous. We are already tamed becoz we have impotent and incomptent leadership chosen by equally incompetent people. We cant say a word against Muslims for fear of being branded communal, yet they are at the forefront of local terror.I am certain the ones who planted bombs could not have done it without local support. The concept of turning Darul Harb to Darul Islam is the basis for them not accepting themselves as citizens of India.Maybe all of them are not involved but invariably in all blasts only Muslims have been involved though not convicted.

All of us yearn to hit back at the terrorists and the people who harbor them......across the border or wherever.....this is natural..

However,do we really have the strength today...to take out the enemy...do we have the will...do we even have a firm policy of dealing with the terrorists and people who harbor them??

The fact remains that over the years....our sucessive govts. have very sucessfully degraded the capability of the armed forces..in order to have a complete victory apart from will ,you need to be fully prepared with the latest armaments.....are our armed forces equipped with the latest weapon systems??NO...the babus sit on the files for years and years.....

It is the common public who suffers always.....the politicians ....well they are fully covered with security.....

If one needs to stop this nonsense...then we need to equip the defense forces with the latest weapons, upgrade intelligence, and be prepared to face the consequences of an armed conflict......bear in mind.the previous conflicts have been gentlemanly affairs....civilian targets were not hit....the next conflict will be different...however,India will never hit back-thats a fact!!

I share your emotions. But India can not do what US has done.If we go for war against Pakistan, which is behind the proxy war,the same US will side Pakistan.US can easily monitor the movement of suspected Islamic terrorist as the number of the whole Muslim community is very less negligible in US.But in India the terrorist can easily hide behind the millions of Muslims(though they are not the practioners of terrorism).Monitoring and tracking of the entire Muslim population of India is just impossible.US also could have faced the same problems if the terrorist are of Christian origin

Real Thukda paragraph hai

"On the streets of Mahim, close to where we work, the majesty of the Indian State was on full display as Congress president Sonia Gandhi accompanied by Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Railway Minister Lalu Yadav drove past, en route to the blast site. My colleague counted 38+ cars in the motorcade that swept past, as other traffic on the road was kept frozen in place by the security phalanx. It was truly an impressive sight - only, I couldn't help thinking, it was put on for someone who doesn't hold an office of authority. While the man who does, simply reviewed the security situation in the face of the Srinagar and Mumbai blasts, and directed that New Delhi's security be beefed up.

This was the majesty of the Indian State on display yesterday. I could have wept"

Sai, you have written well. They should not have come now. Infact. energy bills would have been saved and the real Mumbaikars could have worked better without this 38+ cars.

fair idea
by kaushal on Jul 13, 2006 12:35 PM  Permalink

I would say the author has been correct all the way, though he might have missed out on certain key aspects. We the people dont understand diplomacy. We dont know what restricts indian empire to strike, if they know it then its time, its time that prime minister of india addresses the people of india directly the reasons why a war cant be fought. Tell the people straight instead of giving futile philosophical explanations
