Brilliant!!!
by Narayan Dhakal on May 06, 2006 11:19 AM  Permalink

This is my first time reading Praful Bidwai. Never knew about him till now. Clear, brilliant, precise thought process....he is a mathematician in a journalist's clothing....he reminds me of my all time favourite author, the intellectual rebel, Robert Persig (author of "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" and "Lila").

Misplaced Journalism
by Sandip on Jun 28, 2005 05:28 PM  Permalink

The first thing that i did read was the rediff disclaimer. I agree that the views are of the author and nobody else needs to agree with them. Again this is a country of free speech so he should have his say. But seriously does anyone in rediff even care what they are publishing. A huge amount of people actually read what is written here.
ChannelNews Asis recently had a feature where rupert murdorch's fox news was shown to be deliberately biased towards the republican party. The idea of news coverage is to get news not have them made. I must say thet rediff is going the Fox news way. Experts comments are given more value than the news articles these days.

India's U-turn for a despot
by Kiran B on May 14, 2005 03:12 AM  Permalink

As per these pseudo-seculars India should suppress Nepal(Just because it is a Hindu Kingdom and supports India) and should not talk with its leaders.
but India should support the dictators like Musharaff and Mao/Hu and talk with them (as they are fundamentalists and never support India)
How long we tolerate these pseudo-seculars in India?

Do you have some commonsense problem?
by Vijaya Kumar on May 11, 2005 06:50 PM  Permalink

India has self created problem of East and West. Now you propose to ignore the commies of North. Have you some commonsense problem? Even one Maoist in Nepal is one too many. India delivered Tibet to China in a plate. You want Nepal to go too?. You belong to class by itself Mr. Bidwai. Vijaya Kumar

keep pak and china at a distance
by sarvajna on May 11, 2005 02:08 AM  Permalink

for the left oriented indian columnists and the secular thinkers Nepal has always been a hated country since its a only hindu country in the world.the indian politicians have a scant respect for this small but a very important culturally and strategically placed state.china is training the maoist gureillas and pak istan is infiltrating and establishing anti- india tirade besides smuggling fake currency into india.we should help Nepal crush this maoist communist terrorists by supplying them with free arms and training thus prevent a new cult of infiltration into india.the unstability in nepal is political one like in india.we have seen china doing in tibet and no one needs to teach india how its foreign policy should be.the hue and cry of nepals danger to india is perpetrated by the indian communists and the left oriented thinkers so that they can get maximum benefits for the naxal movements within the country.this will not succeed.the naxals have already created havoc in the country and its no more a movement of peasants or the labour class but its a labour union of lazy trade unionists who are living on the membership of its poor members aand from the money looted and extorted .

Please spare us...
by Vikram on May 08, 2005 08:09 PM  Permalink

Mr. Badwai... please spare us of your intelligence and please go and share your thoughts with Pakistanis where your columns in Pakistani papers are more appreciated. If India (or for that matter whole world) can whine and dine a terrorist, murderor of innocent women and children and a dictator president of Pakistan then what is wrong in India considering its own national intrests supports Nepal's King ? Please grow up and be real.

India's U turn
by Abhik Ray on May 08, 2005 07:06 PM  Permalink

I agree with Kalachandra completely. This author is a well known leftist and as usual for them, an anachronist. India should act acording to its own security and the security of the region as the main agenda. We should not have stopped the arms supply to the RNA at the first place, as they are the foot soldiers who are fighting the maoists. The author is citing the abuse by the RNA, but he is silent about the same meted out by the maoists. If the RNA does not get arms, who wins? The democracy or the maoists? This brings us to the point as to whose side this author actually is. He also states that Pakistan and China will not play any role if India withdraws. Does he have any assurance from these two states? China has been cosistently suppling military hardware to Pakistan (and now Wen Jiabao has agreed to supply missiles to Bangladesh!!), whose only target is India. when Mr. Bidwai is going to write an article about that? I dare him to reply this.
