what a pitiable state of affairs...
by Kalyan Chakravarthy on Feb 12, 2005 11:46 AM  Permalink

When we are actually moving towards liberalisation with opening markets and open thoughts of mind, it is really shameful to think of creating further reservation. especially when we are supposed to be moving towards a reservation-free society.

I just hope there vote-seekers realize that this wont take them far, and that these gains are just momentary to the reservation-seeking community while at the same these tend to hamper to spirit of deserving fellow citizens.

Dalit Christians
by V. R. Kalyana Krishnan on Feb 12, 2005 11:20 AM  Permalink

There is no Dalit among Christians, because there are no castes in Christianity. Even assuming he was a Dalit before conversion, once he becomes a Christian, then he is not a Dalit. Those Dalit Christians who seek the benefit of reservation are the ones who want to have the cake and eat it too.

Stop all this please dont give any quota to anybody and stop existing quotas so whoever have ability he will get it.or atleast reduce the quota limit.
HOPE MY SUGGESTION WILL CONSIDER AS VALUABLE FOR THE COUNTRY.

I Feel No
by Vikas on Feb 12, 2005 10:39 AM  Permalink

Hi,

I feel reservation policy it self is wrong. If wants to keep then Reservation should apply only based on income. Now On current topic, Dalit changes religion because they want to come out from the cast difference calculation and again these politicians wants to put them in same situation.
Fabric of the converted religion is not based on the cast so no question to discuss about reservations.
Think Broadly and Build the Nation. Dont Put Boundaries, Bring out the talent.
Jai Hind.

Is it not obvious???
by XXXX on Feb 12, 2005 09:55 AM  Permalink

The goal of all these programs, apparently ,are poverty alleviation. If the government made an ammendment towards reservation for only the economically backward sections, would'nt we make better progress?

Indeed, the dalits have been and continue to be be the most exploited, and the poorest of the poor. So any ammendment towards the economically challenged will support thier cause for the most part.

Of course, this will lead to making a person issuing economically backward caste (EBC) certificates a crorepati in India. Guess the loopholes will always be there; however, it's high time we realized duct tape will never last for too long (as has been the case with the politicization of government aid for the so called-poor)....

Just a point to ponder?? or a solution for the poor Indian masses (Guess the majority of India)?
