very excellent music composed by ar rahman... deserves all the praises and awards. danny boyle has done good direction and cinematography is also good. altogether a movie of feel good hope.
Why only Danny for slumdog, one mr adiga , the likes of arundhati roy ,kiran desai ,u & me also can be heaped honours for portraying India distastefully. While there is no denying the poverty & filth that ruins India, these people mock upon them for definite western approval. Vilification not empathy of India's misery is these people's claim to fame! but i congratulate rahman for good music and the resultant award ,congratulation!
I agree with Max that this one is totally over hyped movie. It dares to present some realities related to the Mumbai slums which no desi directors had dared to pave. But other than that the movie proceeds like a typical bollywood masala movie with a very happy ending. The movie is not worth the hype being created. Also Danny Boyle is taking all the credits, I can sense that the Indian counterpart is mostly responsible for this movie. Only the ending background score was nice. Rest it was OK.

i think the entire backgrounds were superb... may be u r nt really aware of detailing in music.... it was excellent and rahman has made us proud. all these should have cum 2 him before only
Over hyped movie!Too many flaws in plot & narration, way too many to list here. For exp, which Hindu parents may bring their precious child dripping in blue colour as Rama look-alike in a riot area! How does a poor blind child easily blurt out name of a u s president? Why would a popular show host unrelentingly taunt a hapless boy and regularly find approval & cheers from a very cultured Indian crowd? It is absolutely humiliating portrayal of us! Where do they get an idea that an unmanned car in Agra will simply be robbed of all accessories by street urchin with a speed of Ferrari pit stop mechanics! Is it that easy to get hold of a colt (leave alone desi made) revolver by a mere boy, get into a don's den, shoot him & walk out? Well, I will need an excel sheet to list out all the crap doled by this stupid director! To be fair, i did like the concept & the way movie unfold; very innovative. The movie is also absolutely touching as long as the 3 children are around. I can see those parts repeatedly. But once these children are replaced the movie is totally a crap.

I also agree... There are few people who want to earn fame by depicting a bad picture of Indian society. Some scenes in the movie like... Jamal jumping into the shit-pit to take Amitabh's autograph and few others were unnecessarily shown

true, script has flaws, but that is not something to blame the director for. and anyways, the movie has not won anything for script, its all for the way movie unfolds and the acting and music.

IMHO this is just another masala movie. It's not a bad movie, but it's not a great movie as it is being projected. A super over-hyped movie!
I have watched this movie, its an excellent movie, initially it was difficult to understand wat this movie is, but later i could follow this movie, i have watched the english version, its a good weekend movie, which whole family can sit and watch.Especially Mr. Devs English pronounciation was good.

Talking about Dev's accent, who do you think this movie was for - Indian or Westerns audience? I think it falls flat (at least on the language part) in either case. Read Sumit Bhattacharya's review on rediff - very accurate and precise commentary! This movie is nothing but just another masala movie.
