There could be a plot that Big B make some light adverse comment about this film to avoid MNS and Shivsena actitivities do not attack this film when it is screening, as atleast for MNS Big B is not in their good book. So may some agreement with the Film producer/distributors.HAHA
India is growing on one side and in the mean time 50 percentage is below poverty. These movies should be watched by all kind hearted people including our administrators and that will help to bring poors up
Criticism to this movie is very unfair. This is one of the best movie i have watched. This movie has represented one true aspect of idea and nobody denies the fact that these things do happen in india. Be realistic and admit that these thing happen in india. I am sorry to say that no bollywood movie represents the true picture of india. After watching the idian movies you get the impression that all problems in india has been sorted which isn't truth so this movie gives us the chance to some realities of india. WELL DONE MOVIE

LOL thats india for u ..thick headed ..devoid of any sense of humor or pragmatism..we would love to see million $ mansions where amitabh and his wife will be living with their kids sharukh and hritik and karan johar taking great pride in directing this fantasy movie.we shall enjoy remakes of ET and scores of english movies..and appreciate our lovly heroine who wear almost nuthin while ridiculing western culture..India my friend indian thats our culture ..taking a dig at others
Why no body questions abt a film like satya (getting 5 star in rating) projecting not only poverty / slums but negative effects of the same. If an India mind can accept satya why can't this one? Is it that - reality bites?
When you walk on the road of even posh areas of any city, you see baggers all the time and if you have sympathy, you give them money to stay in that position / condition. There can be a system and mechanism by which these poor can be educated / forced to work or live respectful life. There should be a debate and controversy on this kind of topic rather than spending energy on topics like this..
I think, seeing the black room only and not appreciating a ray of light at the end makes the vision distorted.
This movie has excellent story, great direction, camera, sound. These are topped with fantastic acting by some almost unknown actors.
But while I've started watching the movie, a very depressing thought was creeping in. One question reveberated several times. Is it for all those technical/acting excellence, that this movie doing great in west ? or is it the real naked poverty of India which is boosing the ego of all white viewers ?
This thought hasnt left me yet.
Honestly, its difficult to digest such truth, when told by an outsider.
Lets see, how it catches up with when it releases in India.
Hope politicians do not make an issue for their own interest. I would be happy if any political party takes an oath to eradicate poverty instead of pelting stones at theaters in protest of selling poverty of India etc etc.

Yes ,this is exactly how i felt as well. Just as one enjoys 'horror' films, the west, I felt, enjoys watching the horror of poverty

yes my friend arya, you are exactly right!. Also the scene where the kid jumps into a pit of sh*t was really not necessary to show the poverty on India. Nobody goes to that extent, be it in slum or any other part of India
I am sure Raj Thackeray and MNS have plans to cause vandalism in Mumbai when this movie release in India on Jan 23rd. Be prepared for some more stone pelting and bus's being burnt down all over the city. Its festival time for the MNS dogs on Mumbai streets again. Just for records, the producer has agreed to donate a part of the revenue returns of this movie to the welfare of the slums in Mumbai.
