Yaar., There are certain people, who can't be compared and Ilayaraja Sir, is one of them. No comparision with anyone. I think you agree with me., He is a Maestro, The BOSS

This is like saying the bullock cart rocks (literally) but we cannot ignore the technology of a ferrari.

Wake up.

Yes Ilayaraja is Maestro. But still Rahman has gone one step beyond

Genius, probably.....
by Megan Riles on Feb 14, 2009 09:26 PM  | Hide replies

A R Rahman brings honour to India. As a human being, he is a simpleton, down to earth and a very conservative human being. Success has not gone above his head. He is the same ARR as he was during the Roja days. Kudos to him.

But as music director, I have my own reservations. He is talented. No doubt about that. with the music sense personally have, I thinks he is a geneius, probably to the critics than a comman man. Majority of ARR songs area hit for a day or week or month. I never felt like "the more you listen, feel like listen even more" tunes. Some of the tunes of M S Viswanathan, Ilayaraja, Rajen Nagendra, S Rajeswara Rao, K V Mahadevan, Ramesh Naidu, the burmans, Shanker Jaikishan, Naushad, Ravi, Salil chowdhary (and many more), we can hear even today it gives the same feeling of having heard 15 yrs ago.

But ARR tunes never left a such a long lasting impression.....
