A little modesty would suit you better Mr.Kashyap
by on Oct 25, 2007 03:54 PM  | Hide replies

Every country has their own style of filmmaking

Every filmmaker perception of cinema is different.

I appreciate your work. But dont claim that Indian Cinema is immature. We had great filmmakers like Guru Dutt, Satyajit Ray and we still have great filmmakers.

hope Ppl will accept No Smoking..really looking forward to it...Noir Genre makes it more exciting

but Serious....Modesty is the key word for survival...If you bash Media....They will Screw up your career :)

Best Of Luck

Modesty to whom....?
the multi star..director...lobby?
He is a true film maker....he is waiting for his chance instead of going everyday to yash ...karan....craps office.
he is the man who said fardeen has to be banned frm bollywood, and he added he got a big list.
Mr Vidhu Vinod Chopra have to show modesty by not sending his big crap movie(murder is better film made on extramarital affair)Ekalavya for Oscars. He is saying Ekalvya is the classic frm hindi cinema. Dude its not classic its classless.

Hindi FIlm Industry is Immature.. But..
by Arkan on Oct 25, 2007 02:34 PM  | Hide replies

I agree Hindi Film Industry is still immature. But its really maturing. Hindi audience no more accept gravity defying stunts or a thin and weak hero beating up 10-15 goodas alone or hero jumping from 10 storey building. Now the action sequences need to be picturised in believable manner and heros need to look fit enough to do that also. Movies without masala are being accepted. But its not true about full India. In Tamil/Telugu still hero need to fight 50 villains single handedly for movie to run. Hope those Industries will also mature with time..

You got it wrong. Its the RGV who changed the style of action sequences in Telugu Film Industry(TeFI). Remember Shiva of Nagarjuna, its action sequences are natural. Its actually 'Some' directors from Tamil who make such action sequences. In Stalin, Murugudoss came up with action sequence where Chiranjeevi beats 50 people at a time. In Aniyan, directed by Shanker, Vikram beats 50 people at one go.

In Tamil/Telugu both kind of films exists (Ex: Pokiri, Bommarilu both were hits)

Ram, recently I saw a Telugu film 'Thulasi'. It has Venkatesh singlehandedly attacking and winning against countless persons. I agree all movies are not like that but its a very much accepted formula even now.

Problem with our country...
by on Oct 25, 2007 01:43 PM

"The problem with this country is its media that covers cinema. Our cinema is immature. Our media is very immature. Our critics are worse than our filmmakers. Our film journalism is the worst in the world. Barring a few critics, nobody has a clue what they are talking about. "

Anurag seems to be frustrated with the system. Forgot to mention our movie audience is immature. Maturity comes with time and people like you in the field. Frustration does not take anybody anywhere. Varma was frustrated with censor board in south and took an oath not to direct another Telugu movie. Rahman once commented that "Telugu audience root different" in response to question that he could score music for a single straight movie in Telugu. See who are the losers. Telugu audience listen to Rahaman's music as much or more than others and South audience watch Varma
s movies as well.
Don't get frustrated with mass (public or system) and take "sanyas". Instead, find your way and do your part to the system. You will be successful.

u r true man.....
AB is nothing in front of Thanmathra's Mohanlals performance.
He was good in black. but if we compare him with monhanlal...he got the award only bcs of his stardom...and the so called bollywood brand image.

and ther was a tamil film last year named anniyan...watch for Vikram's performance...nobody frm bollywood can do that role with such an ease....he also avoided by the jury...so its only politics and lobbbying.

Guys,
IN all conversation i found one name missing badly ie of Amir Khan..This guy has given more than 100% in acting and has given some wonderful films for the industry...I dont remmeber how many awards he got but in one of the award functions he got angry for not getting award he deserved and he had decided he will not attain the award functions in future. And he was not there to collect the award for best actor for the movie Lagaan.so i think he actually knows how these award function works..

AK-Do some marketing for your films
by Sabyasachi Ghosh on Oct 25, 2007 01:00 PM  | Hide replies

I believe your films are a different genre. But alas, very few watch them or even heard of them. Even if they have heard, they would not connect those to you. Hence you need publicity and marketing of your end products. My advise to you: Do not get carried away by the fact that merely making good & intelligent films is enough. It may satisfy your intellectual hunger but can not provide food for thought to audience if they remain unknown products, due to poor publicity. A film is good only when appreciated by masses. Also come out of the idea that masses do not watch path breaking films. Because they do! You can not blame them if they do not get an opportunity to watch. Paanch, Balck Friday and No smoking are good movies. But tell me honestly, how many people have heard of these films and how many are aware that these are AK's films. Make no mistake: You will be known by your films and not vice versa.Once your films are witnessed by people, they will be curious to know the name of its maker.Hence put your efforts on publicity and marketing. Hire some good marketing professionals first before you loose out your sting. No one knew capabilities of Satyajit Ray, Mrinal Sen, Govind Nihalani, Sudhir Mishra,Gautam Ghosh, Aparna Sen, as directors, before they saw their films. Use your brains and allow it to rule your heart. You will find even the film journalists will be compelled to write about your films, of course after watching them. Try it now as you are in the circuit for quite

Our audience need education ,attitude and intelligence to understand directors like Kashyap, Vishal Bharadwaj etc. Not only marketing is enough. But time will prove class is class..wait and watch till Indians become literate and sensible and dump these soaps.
