I heard it dfrom someone long ago and its still sticks to my mind like a magnet. "Why be a pauper in someone elses country, when you can be a prince in yours?" It is great to congratulate Shilpa for her resilience but I cannot help thinking would she have stuck around if so much of money as the prize itself was not at stake. Why does one have to put up with the racial abuse and then turun around and pretend like it never happened for the sake of money. If Shilpa had self respect she should have walked out of the show citing racial discrimination as being fairly evident. Instead she does a volte=face and denies racial discrimination. This is not to condone what Goody, Lloyd or O'meara had dished out to her but by denying racial discrimination within 24 hours of it happening Shilpa went onto remind one of the song in Bluff Master " No Biwi ho na Bacha, na baap bada na maiya, the whole thing is that ke bhaiyya, sabse bada rupaiyya. "

Rajeev, You saw what you saw. Now how does it matter to you what Shilpa says or does? Did you think we all wrote and criticized for what happened to Shilpa? NO.. we didn't. All decent people in the world criticized the society that had given birth to a person like Goody and provides her a platform to behave like what she did. Majority British have shown their commitment to fight the intolerance that exists there by voting Shilpa as the winner. Don't expect a individual like Shilpa to fight the great scourge like Racism alone. She doesn't need to do that. The fact that it was Shilpa who faced the abuse itself is irrelevant as for as the issue is concerned. Are you getting what I am trying to say?

I guess we all do such things in our daily lives in our own little ways. We all want to improve ourselves materially. There are very few who may not for whatever reasons. And when there is so much at stake most of us would do the same. No need to be so critical or rather hypocritical. Everyone deserves what they get.
indians are the most racist . huge difference in the dalit ,brahmin. even low cast people get punished if they dare to raise their voice. we have to change our mentality first then say others.we still are far behind in mentality. shilpa's issue comes into focus. now we are saying racism. there are many unfocussed story in our country itself. even after quota the students get divided into different catagories general,sc,obc. general students take a indiffrent attitude to the sc,st students. can we ever deny the fact !!lets try to make our country beautiful

I think its not right to categorize Indians as most racist without proper statistical data.I agree with you that there is nothing to be proud for the entire humanity as even in this age the colour of skin, the parentage and the likes wins over a persons erudiction and capability. Dr.Ashok
whats the need to get so happy,Channel 4 used the racist controversy for popularty and made millions of pounds out of it,shilpa was the other one who benifitted the most, why is being related to India again and again.I think we indians are the most recist people in the world why do we always consider white skins better then brownish or black, first we our self need to change this mentality then we can say about comments abt others

I agree with you Mr.Chaturvedi. Racism is everywhere in the world. Channel 4 had made more money from this show. But, this victory has showed that Indians could win in such kind of competitions. "WE (INDIANS) SHOULD THINK THAT BROWN/BALCK SKIN IS BETTER THAN WHITE"

ANOTHER FORM OF HYPOCRISY OF INDIANS. we have to admit that we Indians are also racist.
