An Indian wins an insignificant corporate television program in some irrelevant far away land. The entire press covers it (while farmers are dying in Andhra).
Today Channel 4 (or whatever that is) and tomorrow the world. Shilpa Shetty winning the Big Brother competition in Britain is the retribution that the "freedom fighters" would have wanted.

Completely agree with your view. Its high time we get our priorities right. There is too much of junk that the media covers....like the Ash-Abhishek deal and so on.
I am proud to say that today the world show runs by indians and they cannot be treated as the way Shilpa was... It also proves that the almighty is thre to see to it. Thanks shilpa.. You have done our country and people proud.
I am 100% agree to what Sk is saying. "It is stupid of the media making a big mockery of shilpa's win. She was choosen by the channel4 guys to save themselves from all kinds of contraversies..Bullshit she says she made her country proud.." If she really want to make the country proud then she has to spend all that "huge money" what she has won; for the social cause. Which I am sure, she will certainly not going to do.

She need not spend any money for any social cause under duress. None of us paid even her air fare to U.K. Cricketers who charge Rs 1.5 lakhs a day of playing (and losing)give nothing in charity. Shilpa atleast brought name to India.

Mr. Ram Prakash, very rarely u see someone as sadist as u..probably "Aaap dil par chot khaye" type lag rahe hai..just spare a thought that how much pride u r bring to the country by such abusing language to a fellow countryman..cheer up buddy...:)..world is not that bad as u think...

I am extremely sorry to say the truth...fact is that most Indians & Shilpa are fond of white skin...they don't mind insult or disgrace....Pity on them...

Hi Arun, I'm not sure what makes you say this. If by 'most Indians', you mean your family and friends, then it's YOUR problem. Most Indians I know aren't fond of white skin (not counting the people you know). Go count sheep, Arun, you probably haven't woken up yet.
What has been demonstarted here is that nobody likes to be on the receiving end of racial abuse. Would we indians now stop using fair and lovely or stop looking down upon africans etc or would the matrimonials advt accept only fair complexioned girls..shilpa has not only won the money, the show, fame well she knows how to act.
