Amitabh Bachchan has reinvented himself with Kaun Banega Crorepati.
What an amazing actor who has developed himself into a terrific anchor.
He doesn't need heavy direction. Like a Rolls Royce or a Stradivarius violin, he is responsive to the lightest touch. My job and that of my team is to provide thorough and detailed inputs and support.
HE is a very private, reserved, serious person. And our association is purely professional.
Kaun Banega Crorepati was the brainchild of Sameer Nair, programme chief of Star TV -- also a serious Amitabh Bachchan fan.
He voiced the idea out loud to me. I said, if you can swing it, great!
Because AB combines style and class with incredible mass appeal. His stature, sense of drama, bilingual eloquence and burnished baritone make for brilliant TV host.
The credit for persuading him to come on TV goes to Sameer and Star TV. All the Cassandras cried he would be diminished by the small screen.
Fact is, he has enlarged it. And how!
YES, he had his share of apprehensions as the host of the show. In fact, he was concerned about it to the point of anxiety.
An actor is used to his script, learning his lines. Here, he had to go online with a minimal script for introductions alone, orient himself with the technology of a multi-camera recording, get into the nitty gritty of the format and game, equate with individuals with widely varying backgrounds. It was understandably gruelling.
Thus before the first recording, he had prepared himself thoroughly with discussions and rehearsals. Again and again and again. He does not go to a single recording without being thoroughly primed and prepared. Nor does he wind up without a review, which is wonderful for a director.
Whether the show can exist without Amitabh Bachchan or not is something that he has answered best himself. He has gone on record several times to acknowledge that the format is strong enough to survive a change of host. This is a globally successful format. Everyone knows that.
But once he was in, I could not see the show without him. He is the consummate performer -- in sync with the show and an incredible force.
HE reads everything about KBC that comes his way. He registers everything said to him. Fortunately, it has been bouquets all the way. The brickbats have been few and far between.
We all share KBC anecdotes and jokes and take pleasure in them, as long as they're not malicious.
Talent tempered with discipline. And complete commitment. That is Amitabh the professional for me.
He brings to the show a very classy mass appeal.
In fact, when Jayaji and Abhishek are around, he acts the host and shows them around.
I see KBC in future -- I see it standing alone. Its magic is in its globally proven format.
It is not just the money. It is not just the host. It is the magic.

I THING YOU ARE CORRECT, THE SHOW IS SUPER FLOP. HE CAN ONLY ACT IN MOVIES, THINKS HE IS KING BUT IN FACT HE WILL NEVER TOUCH AMITABH'S ACTING, VOICE. HE SHOULD QUIT THE SHOW LIKE GOVINDA DID, OTHERWISE HE WILL BE KICKED OUT.
The changeover is fantastic. The act was near perfect with a dash of youthfullness thrown in. He is sure to connect with both the young brats as well as the wise dudes.keep it up SRK. But the comments of SRK on Big B's Hindi --We did not like it. Others do the mistake of comparing Big B and SRK, But atleast he should not do it on air!!! Anyway, it it was splendid with a swish of fresh air. Lets give a FIVE TO SRK!!!!!
i m of the belief that shahrukh did an awesome job it was more lively he was a bit nervous n it did show comparing wid amitabh is not fair we were used to seeing bacchan so its hard to accept but shahrukh but if u forget the past trust me shahrukh rocksssssssssssssssssssssss
Comparing SRK with AB is like comparing a Ferrari to a Mercedes. Both are equally good in their own respects and in my opinion SRK is more fun to watch considering the age factor and above all his sense of humour. I would like to point out that the contestants look a lot more comfortable with SRK on account of his cool dude attitude. Unlike the 'mastermind' , the KBC is more for the fun and not exactly the quiz. In other words I'd like to say SRK is the right man on the job.

The opinion polls suggest otherwise...Look at all channels ..& you will know yourself...who is in & who is out!!
Guys, enough of comparing SRK and Amitabhji..Now that the show has in on air, we need to see how SRK is doing his job and not how SRK is doing when compared to Amitabhji.. I personally feel SRK needs some time to get used to the FEEL and he will surely do a good job in his own ISHTYLE...

But tell me ...SRK has being rehersing so Hard for this show for past two months ....how much more Time does he requires....I feel he will have to take 100 births more to come closer to AB.

Judge the show for its merit and not for what it was before.
Well Shahrook Khan is a great copy master.In films he tried to copy Deelip Kumar and here he is copying the only one great AB.The height whcih AB had given to KBC can never be reached by SRK.By his buk buk this show will end its one death naturally.
If there were any doubts that SRK wont be good, all were erased. Not only did SRK bring freshness to the show but added more variety,style and humor to it. SRK was more humane and the participant interaction was even more than ever before. He need NOT stand in the shadows of AB.. and he will make this show as his own. A real delight to watch...keep it rocking man ! Cheerz !!

guyz its just the one episode.. and if u all come out of AB is God syndrome u'll realise that niether did he copy him nor he tried to better him. SRK has the show now so forget AB . yeah i knw its hard to forget.. but lets move on and enjoy... btw, no ones is forcing anyone to watch .. there are hundreds of other channels ;)

SRK IS MISSING CLASS OF AMITABH BACHCHAN. AMITABPREDICATABLE.H VOICE, MODESTY, CONFIDENCE IS MISSING. SRK WAS NERVOUS AND SPEAK VERY FAST AND HIS ACTING-EXPRESSIONS ARE VERY PREDICTABLE
there is no comparision....sharukh has done gr88 job.....atleast now people shuld stop comparing him with amitabh....he has his charm nd style....all the best sharukh......NO MATTER WHAT U SAY...UR THE BEST
