It was just okay. The impact left by Big B on the show, still looms high on the audience and all they do is compare Shah Rukh with star of the millennium. And well known fact is Shah Rukh lacks.... One thing is for sure after seeing the first episode of KBC - that there is no replacement for Amitabh Bachchan - neither in Bollywood nor in space. Shoes of Big B are too big B for khan. Big B made Star Plus to come at this stage when they were at bottom. Mr. Khan, please try something different. Recreating Don and KBC which are already prooved by Big B - by taking risk of his life to come on small screen and but HE made it a success. u will just carry them forward from here. Learn to take risk - and stop just copying what Big B does. Dont waste your time to proove urself - u r nowhere near MR. BACHCHAN
SRK tried very hard to be different but BIG B has such a domineering influence on the people - SRK included- that the former ended, albeit unwittingly, imitating the latter what with his hand on the chin and the same measured tone. Also, when SRK massaged a contestant to allay his nervousness, and when he hugged a contestant quitting the show, the signs were clear - here was an anchor desperately trying to be different, but failing to come across as genuine. wye2n

You have hit the nail right.... he was not genuine....he was putting a mask and trying to act.
Good dialogue delivery is in born. From first episode SRK proves that he is bad in dialogue delivery. Its not a 5 min scene like in movie that you mugged up and deliver artificially. But this show is of 1 hr and you requires good dialogue delivery inherent in your blood to make it succeded. The was SRK humiliates the south indian by pronouncing his name in badly, he should learn manner.
God somebody tell this Khan copying or trying to act too smart won't let him get pass Mr.Bacchan and before Mr. Bacchan he needs to get pass Aamir Khan and Ajay Devgan in acting.
I don't agree with the ideas that SRK and big B shouldn't be compared. It's SRK's effort to outdo Big B by doing remakes of the films and shows the latter had previously essayed which has now made the comparisons inevitable. SRK is one of the greatest bollywood stars and he has every rights to host any KBCs.
When AB set out to start the show he had both negatives and positivrs for him. He was aging, almost baknkrupt and though was great superstar, was certainly not at the peak of his popularity. However, he had incomparable wit, a literateur's grip on hindi, english and some of the regional languages of India, strong understanding on Indian politics, cinema or say anything. You begin a topic and AB could peep into the details without any big effort and still convincingly. It was these pluses that esblished an unconventional show as an original brand In TV screen. It wasn't the prize money but AB's intellect and persona dragged audiences of all ages.
SRK has more pluses. He is younger and can pull more younger generations to the show, he is at the peak of his popularity and he is definitly a great speaker. However his only negative might come on him heavier: his lesser grab of intellect and understanding on things. For a show based on GK, the host is supposed to have far deeper knowledge. It's not like a plot of a movie where an actor just follows the scripted episodes of the Director. Wit and intellect are more desired than acing and humor in such programs as evidence have shown in the same kinds of programs in the US and the UK.
Big B's succes was his ability to create the original. SRK's current lampooning by the audiences is becuse he is not creating but attempting to replace. Take the case of the repeated "Don ko Pakadna..." or leave it to the Director's blunder. He attempts to make another "lock Kiya Jaye" witht his "Freeze..." and the benchmark of authenticity ranks such attemps to duplicacy. AB's ability was in his creation of originals and SRK is making them cheaper with Duplicates. He is great. Still he is neither a greater actor nor a better intellect if AB is around.
Media is biased but the fact is crystal clear it took not time for Shahrukh to rule the Industry while Amitabh has political contacts which he used time to time for his career progression.
How can a copper (Pital) vessel replace a gold vessel ? Shah Rukh tried to hide his nervousness by hugging, massaging and other mimicry items. This was the biggest joke. That was why other programmes like Chhapar Phadke, which was hosted by Govinda and other programme hosted by Manish Koirala & Anupam Kher failed. Star should realise that what is good for their TRPs. SRK can act only as Rahul in candy floss movies not in reality shows like KBC.
