IITans like this Gupta is no better than a mercenary. Having done a engineering course at one of the finest institutions, what he does he do next? Investment Banker. Why? Money and Greed. It is a shame to all these IIT guys who choose careers otherwise unrelated to thier main area of study. Like soemone said here, IIT guys are coming back not out of love for India, but they have some personal problem. I do not have any respect for these phonies who live in the US and fool the Indians by regular visits. It also goes to sports persons like the Amritraj brothers, Vish Anand etc. It sucks to see how the Indians glorify these persons who have chosen to stay away for India. They would love to live a charmed life in the US and Europe. Not for them the beggars, filth and dirty streets of India. But they will shamelessly accept Padma Awards from the President.Sorry to see Madhuri also in this group.

i FULLY AGREED WITH YOU. These IIT stupids simply do it for sake of money and covering it under the garb of terms like Nationalism, patriotism when they come back to India.
If they do have patriotism,do they start with their work in the backward area of India? Any rural development etc? No...These idiots make money in US.One day ,they are fade up with the routin life style, the dating culture, weak family bonding etc. They do not want their kids to grow up in that enviornment. They accumulate as much money as they can and fly back to India & follow the same old practises like demandign dowery in the wedding....After all they have the Indian genes that will seldom improve.

I feel strongly about these IITians, because I am an IITian myself. I refused admission granted to me in IIT because I did not get the discipline I wanted. But later on went to do the Masters in Engg because somehow I wanted to make up for my earlier decision differently.

R u saying IIT-ans produce or contribute more to nation's success than non-IITans? Give me some examples and I will give you 1000 more about non-IITans. IITans are uncool nerds, gud-4-nothing engineers who all want to be managers.

USA is not palatable for ''uncool'' people
by timepass on May 15, 2008 11:28 AM  | Hide replies

Indians in USA are the most retarded social animals, no wonder they find it hard to adjust in USA. I find it laughable when Indian guys in USA complain about missing home food and music and want to return. These guys hardly mix with other cultures, have filthy houses, spread masala smell to the whole town while cooking and generally make themselves a laughing stock in USA and create aa bad name for India community. Instead of befriending or dating American girls, they prefer to flock to nude bars and lap dance places. When they realize Americans ridicule them, instead of worshipping them for being "IIT-ans" or engineers, they cannot take it anymore and wind their tail and come back to mother's lap in India. These jokers are good for nothing - technically, managerially, socially. Americans like cool people, not dumb-asss, no-sense-of-humor idiots. There are people 1000 times more brilliant than IIT-ans in USA, just look at how humble and cool they behave. In India, we shud stop automatically positioning these guys at the top and make them go through the grind and earn their position in corp. world. These guys would be really exposed then.

Very well said!

I've had to hang my head in shame, while in the US, because of the uncouth behavior of our desis.

True, masala stench, loud and attention-seeking behavior, inferiority complex, Hindi movie style dressing, chattering in their language in the presence of others who don't understand the language..... I can go on and on and on.

Tiempass. You are absolutely right. I lived in the US for 18 months. I felt very sorry for these people. What surprised me was most of the jokers I worked with and the others whom I saw were mediocre and below mediocre. How they managed to reach this country beats me. The IT industry in India, for money, would send any idiot on H1B etc

Is this article of any news value?
by supriya m on May 15, 2008 11:23 AM  | Hide replies

I do not understand in the least how this piece of article can be of any news value to a common man. If IITians are returning to their motherland so are many plumbers, masons, designers, doctors, businessmen, etc. Obviously, the prime reason being that the Indian economy has the potential of growing to greater limits now, which wasn%u2019t the case before!
In the same note, the blue collar labour force travelling to Middle East, US, UK were doing so to earn a better living, which stands the same for these IITians. They left when there was acute unemployment in the country. Now, that the rest of the world is opening up offices in India to tap its workforce, the IITians are back! Besides, well! You know!! I%u2019m in my late 30s, 40s, and I need !!Indian food!! luxurious living (to show off before %u201Cmy people%u201D!!!), maybe hang around with Page3 once in a while, Great reasons huh!!!
The cream from the premier institutes are expected to turn out to be entrepreneurs and create employment within the country; Not make a comeback when the grass seems to be greener over here now. I do not hold any bitterness towards those who are returning to India as it is completely their wish to choose the life they want. But let%u2019s not make them heroes out of nothing. It is a disgrace to all those IITians or for that matter any one who have actually made a difference. Kudos to such people!

Excellent comment. No need to add any further or look at any comments further on this. Rightly said India became a land of opportunities without these IITans.
