Why Ashutosh Gupta came back to India
by rahul babbar on May 15, 2008 11:43 AM  | Hide replies

Ashutosh gupta came back to India only after he worked for a few years in US, earned big enuogh bucks so that he could afford to get a big house in the posh areas of Gurgaon....He won't have STAYED back in India just after his graduation in any case....with the Dollar Rupee factor, Indians normally come back only after earning some good amopuont of money....and Yes, Ashutosh also wants some good IITians to join his company, that's y he's asking them to stay in India...Is he willing to give them a decent salary that 'll get them a small flat in Gurgaon....4-5 lpa for a fresher...what's that...It's time people like Ashutosh start thinking of others rather than themselves...
Rahul

The problem is he has educated by Poor tax payers money of India. As somebody has already mentioned, no patriotism has been shown by these people, when Indian economy was in bad shape. All these no sense fellows are returning to India, when Indian economy has started showing its real strength

The real story is he was laid off and on bench for 2 weeks, so he came back to India. Feel sad for his company who keeps him in an honorary post with no output.

Twist in the Tale: See this is a problem for the people in the age 35 - 40. The kids start growing big and they are ready to embrace western culture. So our guys are pissed off and do a about turn and return back to their roots so that everything will be normal. Many of them continue abroad and allow their wards to embrace US culture and live lifelong. But coming back to india and painting yourself that enough is enough, I miss my daal chawal, I miss my country and all that crap after 10 - 12 years sounds illogical. Since you are scared and you dont want your son or daughter's future to go astray. you have taken a decision to come back. even I would have done the same thing which is best interest's of the family.

Flourishing on Tax payers money
by Rajan kasliwal on May 15, 2008 11:43 AM  | Hide replies

IITs and IIMs are big liability on India.

They are sucking the best brains, they are sucking the Tax payers money, they are getting all the fame and glamour, but India is getting nothing or very little.

All advantages are going to IITains and foreigners.

What ever IITains produced by Serving white skins in US/Europe, India is buying it at hefty price. Again a big burden on taxpayers.

The worst, they donot want to be answerable to Tax payers , on whose money they are flourishing.

Just criticize the IITs and you will start getting bitter reactions. All such reactions are because there is not even an iota of realization that it is Indian Taxpayer money.

Whatever you might say makes sense 50 years back, but most of the iits have been sponsored by foriegn collaboration and Ex iitians...and there are many iitians in india who are paying the highest amount of taxes than anyone can imagine...and how many iitians have joined social groups and awareness programs in india ( leaving out big offers just to give back to the country)...do not generalise what you think you know ...

Rajan,
What liability towards tax payers?
I paid lakhs to get my education. IITs don't run of tax-payers money more than any other national institute (example RECs).
In our country when a large chunk doesn't even pay taxes, we IITians pay taxes through honest hard work and aspiration to excel. I'm not saying non-IITians don't, but we pay back to society more than what we took individually and more so collectively.

Well said Sameer. And in spite og getting a green card, Indians still remain black/brown people for the White people.

IITians want themselves to be identified with the Whites, which unfortunately never will happen/has never happened.

Indeed as Adi Shankaracharya has pointed out, this world in nothing but an illusion.

Suraj,
All I can say for you is this is all sour grapes (angoor khhatte hain).
Everybody has their own reason(s) to return - laid off, children growing, better opportunity, nostalgai due to daal-chawal (hard to believe, but possible), 3 hour long movies with unnecessary songs, smell of dung, sound of car horns, smell of deisel...call it whatever.
They chose to go to US, make their lives better. Or some it worked out and they want to retun. For some it didn't and they are returning. But at the end of day, they are contributing to society. Are you? If yes, good for you and you are equally better. If not, then go and do some.

Nobody in the US give a rat's asss if they are from IIT and 98% do not even know what IIT is. Also, we shud have no respect for people who do engineering and want to work as managers for fat salaries. Its ridiculous and they bring no value to society. Also, they are all nerds and the most retarded social animals who make Indians are laughing stock in USA.
