Zeng, dont you think the prices of foodgrains will increase. Moreover govt doesn's have any control on the orices of foodgrains.

Poor people spends almost 95% of their income on food only.

Soniaji

Only Soniaji is calable of removing India from this mess of corruption, inflatation, poverty etc. She is perhaps the true iron lady after Indiraji & Margaret Thatcher. Her selfless act of opting out of prime ministership is testimony to her nature. Really the only shining light along with Rahul Gandhi in todays dirty political world. Hope she choses to lead India from the coming elections as PM.

All the best Soniaji & Rahul. We are with u.

Karat - We know You wont withdraw support but only bark
by jamsheed abumohammed on Jun 05, 2008 10:51 AM  Permalink

Habits die hard. Communists knew only to bark but seldom bite, as admitted by Karat himself. The so called protests all over the country and bandh are all a show piece to cheat the general public. If they have any concern for the people of this country, they should decisively act and withdraw support forcing UPA to call for a mid-term poll. Instead of forcing the issue, the token bandh and protest would not cut ice with the general public who are well aware of the machinations of these red brigade. Congress spokesmen were vehemently supporting the govt move as a forced decision due to unforeseen situations. BJP was equally vociferous calling the price rise as an economic terror unleashed by the UPA govt on the common man. But nobody could answer as to what they would have done, if they were in power. Ironically, during NDA rule, the prices were raised 17 times compared to 4 times by the Congress regime. This itself does absolve the UPA govt at all of the responsibility to ably manage the economy. They failed. The reason being that the price of petrol itself contain around 52% as tax components. If they remove this or reduce it, then petro products would be cheaper than anywhere else. This they failed to explain when Communists spokes person Bhattacharya raised it in NDTV yesterday. All qued up from the govt side to defend while the opposition including congress allies were equally vociferous in their opposition to the burden on the common man and roll back is only option left.
