I changed jobs in this financial year. I have form 16 given by both employers. Will my total tax be the addition of tax paid by each company or will I have to calculate the tax afresh by adding the gross taxable income from both companies

Same story here...you have to calculate afresh; since tax is on cumulative income. I thought like you; but now realize i have quite a tax burden...on adding the incomes.

We were having a partnership firm dealing as an agency for only one company and were alloted the PAN number and were filing Returns regularly. Since May 2006, this agency is terminated by our principals and we are not doing any business and there is no income or expenses. We have filed a NIL return for the FY 2006-07. Are we to file the Nil return every year or can we surrender the PAN card and how to do the same.

Income tax query
by rajeev jha on Jul 19, 2008 09:38 PM  Permalink

Hi..I am into a home-based job providing ITeS solution for a company. I have given DDA a sum of 4,19,000 to clear my dues that I owed to them in Dec. 2007. For this, I got a personal loan of 1.5 lakh from bank, 2.20 lakh (1.8 lakh from my brother and 40,000 from my mother), and 49,000 which I got by surrendering my insurance policies. My question is that can I show this transaction as capital loss from house and get some rebate on my tax???
