It is welcoming that a solution seems to be in sight,though after lot of turbulences.Good sense could have been prevailed before loss of many precious lives. Lot of politics have entered into it. Mamta and WB Govt are right in their own ways. But,it is the public and the state of W.Bengal which have taken a beat. Industrilization is important for the development of a state and the people at large.But at what cost? A compromise could be evolved so that the furtile land could be saved, but the industry survive.This is possible provided there is a will among the state Govt, politial leadership and the entrepreneur.It would be a set back if the Nano is pulled out of WB at this juncture.

bongsa will gain more if Tata pays market price instead of forcing people to part with their land. Tata needs to take a long hard look at their ways of doing business. Why should the farmers be forced to sell land at lower prices. Tata should behave like good businessmen and not try to bribe local politicians to pressurize local people.

I still find it hard to believe that Tata refused to pay the correct prices for the land and had to approach local politicians to get the land. Its amazing how Ratan Tata seems so penny wise and pound foolish. If they had paid what the market prices(whatever the owner asks is the market price, not the government decided price) none of this would have happened. Another short sighted move by a company that claims to have grandiose dreams. You cant realize huge dreams by bribing politicans as Tata has now discovered.

dear ramakant, nano is unique and could be the pride of India in the world of automobile indusrty. but do u know that tata is getting the land (1000 acres) for 99 years as lease for they r paying only nothing only a mere amount of rent.

I AM PAYING TWO HUNDRED TIMES MORE RENT AND LAND PREMIUM TO WEST BENGAL GOVT AND THEY ARE THREATENING TO CLOSE DOWN MY WATER SUPPLY AND ELECTRICITY AT EVERY SMALL DEFAULT. WHY THIS DOUBLE FACED POLICY?
This is 2008, the future belongs to people who can lead and win battles in the international arena. Here was have a group which is trying to make come up in the international industrial ranking as India's best in terms of human resource, technology, product. And this is what it gets in return, political misgivings and disgrace. And the politicians who are responsible are not even bothered. This should end, this must end and has to end if the young need to be see the future and be a part of it this has to stop. We all must fight to throw these politicians to the gutters.
