I HAD A FOND MEMORY OF MR RATAN TATA
by ASHMITA on Aug 26, 2008 04:35 PM  Permalink

I just returned from the US , a scientist too eager to join a TATA company - I returned in haste without even considering my daughters' academic year. Banged with a disappointment becuase the inaugaration took place after six months. Well-preserved Indian tradition. Became a looser. The angst was gone when I met a person with steely determination and a compassionate heart. Bowled over by his passion for India, her land and people. RATAN is UNMOL, PRICELESS, A TRUE VISIONARY WHO CAN INSTILL THE VIRUS OF INSPIRATION INFECTIOUSLY. My story ended with despair, it wasn't a comedy. I left my favourite company without cherishing a malice towards nobody and all. Still I feel TATAs are one of the best company to wotk with, leaving a company is a personal call but that does not erase one's fond memories. MAY GOD BLESS RATAN TATA AND KEEP HIM HEALTHY AND CHEERFUL FOR MANY MORE DECADES TO COME.

On Customers
by Prabu SM on Aug 26, 2008 04:35 PM  Permalink

Wow... What a simple, yet very powerful statement:

On customers: We should be treating the customer in the same way that we would want to be treated as customers.

Don't just find fault in the grammer mistake in his statement. Bigger issue is the safety of Tata motor employees which is foremost in his mind. Tata motors factory is in the danger of relocating to other states. Mamta will make entire state into a big firmland. West Bengal will certainly grow, but populationwise not economically.

Like any other greedy industrialist, Mr Tata, is also trying to exploit poor people. Mr Tata please don't kill turtle's in Dhamra, Tribals in kalinga Nagar and farmers in Singur.

History will not forgive you.

Dear Sir,

Have you ever heard of `the Head of the Family'.
Have you ever heard of `the Face of the Company?

To remove your ignorance, Bharat Ratna is an award meant for an Individual, not a group or society and industry.

And do you know how the TATA entity treats the Nano Team. Best loved kids of the family.

Hope I have found out all the needles in the heystack that you were searching for.

Indians cant get over family orientation!

Media juts out crap and the so called educated people regurgitate the same without applying their own mind!

Indian electronic media is controlled by western capitalists.

Please tell me what is so offensive in my post that rediff moderator has to delete it?

Dont use chop Logic to cast aspersions on a Person as dignifies as Ratan Tata.

'MY" shows a belonginess....it can be in terms of one's love for his family.

Most of the people know about the holding patterns of Tata's. Techincally Ratan Tata could be most easily the richest person in the country but the TATA"s per se belive in the mantra of giving everything back to the Society and the Nation.

Peter Drucker cant be right all the time. Many of his managament fundaa have already been refuted. N yeah he hardly ever travelled to India to justify the word " My"

Nano is a vision....and the mark of a great leader is his vision!! yeh he couldnt go to the shopfloor to build it...but neverthless he promised millions in terms of investment.

And truly he desrves a Bharat Ratna much more than any other living person in the country and I can bet on that ...he ll get it sooner or later.

And finally you cant separate the man from a company...if the company is the body...the chairman is the soul!!

Kudos to Ratan Tata for whatever he has done for India...

TATA Must Considered
by Sebananda Roy on Aug 26, 2008 04:32 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

My request to Mamata, TATA & WB Govt. for a amicable sattlement of the present crisis is to give some share/divident to landloosers from the output of Singur Factory.
Because Govt. is giving only double the price of the land they have accured.
And its a matter of fact that after a year or two they will spend the money and we will see a new class of Beggar in that area which having a sound socio-economic condition due to 3 seasonal crops in a year. We have barren lands in Birbhum,Bankura & Purulia districts only where infrastructure for industrilisation not developed. Actually CPIM already ruined the state over last 30years. Now some sign of improvement is showing from last two years. BUT IT IS ALWAYS DIFFICULT TO ACCURE FARTILE LAND IN WB. I have seen many mails from different states with abusing comments- Remember friends WB have received an investment over Rs.56000 crores in last 2 years included Rs.1500 crore at Singur. Do you know TATA's Haldia Cockoven plant will be operational in next two months.TATA's expansion at TATA Metalics & TATA Bearings at Kharagpur are running smoothly. WB based TATA Tea is going Global now. Have you heard of all these. Today WB is at 3rd place in investment after Gujrat and Maharashtra. No1 FDI of Japan is WB.
WE MUST LOOK AFTER FARMERS AND TO ENSURE THAT THEY HAVE RIGHT TO FOOD NOT FOR ONE/TWO YEARS, BUT YEARS TO COME. SO, ALL LANDLOOSER MUST GET SHARE OF SINGUR PLANT IN PROPORTION OF THEIR LAND ACCURED TO GET DIVIDENT EVERY YEAR.

I agree with Seba. Giving Land to Tata's is good but Farmers have to be compensated accordingly.

Govt should ban Giving away fertile land for companies. There are vast stretches of barren or less cultivable land available. Why not use those. This way we will have double benefit ..
