Anything special?
by Jo Ho on Sep 14, 2008 06:12 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

What's great about Tata? Well, a notch better than typical Marwari Banias!!! What else?

He grew up in a protected, sheltered economy, never faced international competition by the blessing of then stupid policies of GoI which was indirectly referred by OrientHotels Group, New York as they were afraid of losing reputation.

Which product of Tata is good? The main biz i.e. minivans are junk, mobile telephony is a joke, USB or card based internet connection is a matter probability if you can work with some at least, the steel is never at a boasting level, hotel biz is OK but the credit goes to Congress Govt primarily.

Tata recently bought JLR at a cut loss cost from Ford;now may God save JLR.

I don't see Tata recruiting people with experience from outside;he'd rather pay less to recruit freshers and gradually increase to ensure satisfaction. The good thing is that he's not a typical bania, he takes care of his people.

Ethics? He wants everything for free - now his joint venture deal with the Chinese party for Singur Nano plant is exposed. Question is if he's a beggar to ask for so much for free, that also from a poor state like WB. My knowledge says he's one of the richest men on this planet. We all understand that food scarcity is a terrible thing happening and coming in a roaring scale worldwide. Well, it's easy to guesstimate the reduction of cost due to proximity from Kolkata. Is it ethical to spoil super fertile land at this time while barren land was available?

In line: just google "tata class action law suit". Where from he got all his mone to buy JLR. If these fellows can cheat educated people and the US govt, think of the fate of hapless farmers in Singur. He is surely guy who wants everything free. I have been a tata employee. Its horrible. they groom cheats and rowdies as managers and suck the blood out by threat. but its is difficult to make people believe this. These fellows have a good public relations which ensures their image.

TATA Group means Values and Ethics
by Ajit Shah on Sep 12, 2008 04:48 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

TATA group is one of the most respected, ethical and progressive business houses in the country. I have four of the of TATA group companies as my client across the country and while dealing with them one can experience that one can build business empire purely on the basis of Values and without any political inclination. Their employees understand the values and vision very well. You take any of the TATA group companies and will realize that the first two things that they develop is Vision statement and Value mechanism even before starting the operations. For them speed of growth is variable criteria but adhering to values and principles is constant that can never be compromised. We wish TATAs to enter in as many business sectors as they can.

tata stands for trust
by AVILASH on Sep 09, 2008 12:30 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

i dare people to speak ill of tatas and get away in jamshedpur. it is impossible. however we are fastidious and tend to forget the right work, recollect the mistakes and make an issue to survive. TATA HAVE COME OUT TO PROTECT INTEREST OF NATION AND ITS PEOPLE. it requires guts to take such a stand. many employees have been beaten up in other companies again and again. how many of such companies thought of protecting its people and not investment. pl let me know if you find such a company

You might be right specially if you compare this group with its oldest rival. You assume that the creation of a Jamshedpur in Singur is good for the people - of where ? Certainly not of singur - unless you beleive that they are ignorant and do not understand where their good lies ? How often have politicians in India repeat the same argument - we know what is good for them. Can you imagine having to give up your livelihood for a sum of money - a career change with an uncertain future. Please imagine yourself in their shoes ? Why do people not understand the social cost of this displacement ?

Absolutely right. How many companies in India have protected employees not even public sector companies.

Tatas have to take the blame too
by sajansajan on Sep 08, 2008 06:27 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Frankly the tendency to blame politicians for everything is pathetic. Industrialists have also made promises and gone back on them specially when related to jobs and pollution. Why sould a common man trust Tatas or Birlas when they have been decieved time and again. Either dont make promises or stick to them. KP Singh of DLF fame aquired large tracts of land for his real estate business in an environment when no law and no party favored businesses. Today if Tata cant do so its because he is a lesser man. How many times has he or his minions deigned to go to the site and communicate with villagers? Have they ever come down their jaded towers in South Mumbai and outside their BMWs?. You need to share the common man's hookah to win him over like KN Singh.

To know more about Mr K P Singh, you must stay in DLF Qutab Enclave Gurgaon. I don't see any comparison of him with Mr Ratan Tata.

Trasparency
by vsgiri on Sep 05, 2008 03:01 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Govt. of WB should have ensured complete transparancy in the dealings. Now the Govt. says they are prepared for compensation and so on and so forth for obvious reasons. So, in a way Mamata is right when she talks about Singur or Nandigram
