budget
by chitralekha sengupta on Feb 28, 2007 04:00 PM  | Hide replies

If the definition of a senior citizen is 65 years of age, why don't make the retirement age as 65 in place of 60. mr. fm, do you think all retired persons keep on earning at the rate even after 60? Shame on you. I didn't know you are such a miser.

Budget
by ashok gangwal on Feb 28, 2007 03:59 PM

It was good that while the presentation of Budget our PM remained sleeping. It seems that now these two economist are capable enough to ruin this party.

PM sould immediately take the ownership and come forward to comdemn this budget.

Agriculture negelected yet again
by tejas gangane on Feb 28, 2007 03:59 PM

Mr.FM has neglected Agriculture yet again.I do not understand how can a FM of of an agrarian country afford not to put emphasis on Agriculture.Only some irrigation related taxs have been reduced but no other tax sops have been offered to Agrculturist & poor farmers.Nor is there any ecomonic encouragement to teh profession of Farming.Irrelevant sectors like Hospitality gain footage.Truely this country is forgetting its roots of socialism & moving towards exploitative Capitalism.

useless budget
by Gaurang Dixit on Feb 28, 2007 03:59 PM

This budget is useless for middle class regular tax payers. I think we should throw out this government in next election just like Punjab and Uttrakhand.

Buget: what it means to an aam aadmi?
by Meghna Tripathi on Feb 28, 2007 03:59 PM  | Hide replies

Now what is a budget to an aam aadmi? If you are in a majority and thus an aam aadmi, to you budget (read monthly budget) would be something like this:
Roti (Ration/ pani) : Rs. 5 - 7000/-
Makan (rental etc.) : Rs. 7 - 9000/-
Bijli ( water telephone) : Rs. 3 - 4000/-
Dawai (medical) : Rs. 1 - 2000/-
Padai (education cost for two): Rs. 5 - 7000/-
Sadak (tranportation) : Rs. 2 - 3000/-

Total (monthly) budget : Rs. 23000/- to Rs. 32000/-)

This is what are compulsory and minimum expenses. Now even if you are to leave out the optionals (of minimum Rs. 5000/- monthly expenses on clothing/ outings/ holidays / car maintenance etc.), then you are still left with an annual expenses (read budget) of Rs. 2,50,000/- at the minimum and that with a family of four only!

Thereafter, to repeat, if you an aam aadmi, are you left with anything to pay??? Then, is there any point in taxing someone with an income >Rs.2,50,000/- p.a.??!! Chidambaram must consider this as well! If not him, then someone will!!

Also the tax should not be the same in all the states. For example, the living cost in Bangalore is much higher than in Kolkata.

Pls dont remove grudge here
by Subash Patel on Feb 28, 2007 03:57 PM  | Hide replies

All,
we all are deeply hurt by the rule of COngress from past couple of years. Join hands now. Lets not shout here and remove the anger. Lets keep it, grow it daily with budget, inflation and day-to-day suffering due to this Govt., and blast it off during the next elections. I am not supporter of BJP. But sometimes I feel "India shining" slogan of BJP during last election is little bit true. What we are achieving today is all due to their contribution. Lets wait and hit them back very very hard.

At the end of the day common sense is more important than degrees
by samson lawrence on Feb 28, 2007 03:57 PM

So even uneducated people can become good administrators.

A politicians first duty is the people.

If he doesnt care for the common peole and help the economy in such a way that they earn enough to pay taxes. He is nonsense.

By that yardstick maybe we can call this budget nonsense. I am absolutely sure all the industries who are going to get reliefs will make more profits but wont pass it on to their employees.

And it is time the minimum wages in India should be revisited.

At today's rate of inflation wages shouldnt be less than 300 per day.
