Atrocious Budget
by Vinod Jadhvani on Feb 28, 2007 04:05 PM

I like many others is not satisfied with the budget. The Sensex also has gone down by record figure today. There are no reliefs given for salaried class who are taxed the highest just because they are paid in white(i.e chq),by their employers. We,salaried class, are in fact subsidising the business income which is grossly undertaxed, which I as a common man can see,how is it that such senior people like FM cannot see.FM,Inflation will not come down this way.

The Politicans will get benefits from business people to pay it to poor people during election times. and run the government by collection huge taxes from middle class people and they don't care about middle class people because there is no unity among them.

Service tax for apartments
by chandra sekhar on Feb 28, 2007 04:03 PM

The FM's declaration: "Service tax on Residents Welfare Associations whose members contribute more than Rs 3,000." This is perplexing. Why the genie out of FM got such a new idea? The apartments are maintained by the welfare associations, who are now taxed. How come this is welfare move, as avowed by the Congress?

Whom should we call intellectual, all are more or less same. Now people are afraid of living in India due to the dirty politics and politicians. If you go to electricity dept to make a complaint about the meter that running fast. People are not even ready to talk there, and ask for CHAI PANI KA KHARCH, so the whole system is corrupted.

Budget: what it means to an aam aadmi?
by Meghna Tripathi on Feb 28, 2007 04:00 PM

Now what is a budget to an aam aadmi? If you are in a majority and thus an aam aadmi, to you budget (read monthly budget) would be something like this:

Roti (Ration/ pani) : Rs. 5 - 7000/-
Makan (rental etc.) : Rs. 7 - 9000/-
Bijli ( water telephone) : Rs. 3 - 4000/-
Dawai (medical) : Rs. 1 - 2000/-
Padai (education cost for two): Rs. 5 - 7000/-
Sadak (tranportation) : Rs. 2 - 3000/-

Total (monthly) budget : Rs. 23000/- to Rs. 32000/-)

This is what are compulsory and minimum expenses. Now even if you are to leave out the optionals (of minimum Rs. 5000/- monthly expenses on clothing/ outings/ holidays / car maintenance etc.), then you are still left with an annual expenses (read budget) of Rs. 2,50,000/- at the minimum and that with a family of four only!

Thereafter, to repeat, if you an aam aadmi, are you left with anything to pay??? Then, is there any point in taxing someone with an income >Rs.2,50,000/- p.a.??!! Chidambaram must consider this as well! If not him, then some will!!
