Budget
by Terrence Nazareth on Feb 28, 2007 04:23 PM  | Hide replies

Budget 2007 is nothing to cheer. It gives from one side and takes from other side. Politicians do not do anything to salaried class. By increasing 10K on exemption limit, budget has increased eduction cell by 1%. It balances what is given.

My budget monthly has jumped with the Budget,07

Khana Khazana - 25 x 4 members = 100 x 30 days = Rs. 3000
Pina (bilseri, cold drinks, etc) - 20 x 4 members = 80 x 10 days = Rs. 800
Kapada Sapda - 300 - 4 = 1200
Kapde ko istri - lumpsum Rs. 500
Cinema vinema - 200 x 4 = 800 x 4 = Rs. 3200
Ana Jana - 200 x 10 days = Rs. 2000
Nana Dhona - 100 x 4 = 400
Jootha Sootha - Lumpsum Rs. 200
Gadi Sadi - Rs. 2500
Padia Likai - Lump sum Rs. 4000
Aur Mauj Masti - lumpsum Rs. 3000
Take home salary: Rs. 18000/-
Karcha = Rs. 20800
Net Bachat (kuch nahi) - Rs. 2800 (minus)
IT IS REQUESTED TO FM, TO GIVEN DEFICIT TO SAVE FOR RETIRE LIFE

Bud Get or ''Get Bad''
by Meghna Tripathi on Feb 28, 2007 04:22 PM  | Hide replies

Indeed the 'Bud Get' is "Get Bad"!

Or else, why they have not even taken high rate of inflation into account. Given that most essential commodities cost at least 50% more vis-a-vis last year, there was a strong case to raise the threshold limit to Rs. 1,25,000/- at least, if not more. But it seems all PC is concered with whether or not price of PCs (personal computers) is going up or down!

Then, why raise exemption limit for senior citizens most of whom have an income, in any case, much less than Rs. 1,95,000/-. This is nothing but extraordinary craftsmanship employed to fool the masses.

Wow FM! You are a master craftsman. But, do remember, people of India are not fools!!!

I can tell by the way you've crafted your argument that you must be a viciously, morosely boring woman. 'Bug Get' is 'Get Bad.' You should pay extra taxes just for coming up with such a poor one-liner.

A lay man is wiser than our FM
by P Reddy on Feb 28, 2007 04:22 PM

Mr FM,
Why do you take the middle class for a ride allthe time? Do you think they are fools? You rise the tax exemption level by 10,000 and then increase the cess by 1%. You are a cruel idiot making fun out of the pains of the middle class in this nation. We pray GOD you nevel get elected to parliament again. This is for the congress party as a whole.

Budget 2007
by Thiruvengada Nathan on Feb 28, 2007 04:21 PM

Close on the heels of the Railway Budget it is gratifying to note that the Finance Minister P.Chidambaram has also presented, by and large, a %u2018tearless%u2019 budget. Though the budget contains no great reliefs, it is welcome on the sole ground that he has spared people from the burden of new taxes. However, raising the education cess by 1% uniformly on all taxes is an irritant and his allocation of funds for education does not, therefore, reflect his real concern in giving a fillip to education.
The sops by way of duty cut in some of the consumable articles ,income tax exemptions etc., are too little to feel happy. People are also skeptical even if the announced sops and the 2% reduction in petrol and diesel will have any downward impact at all on the ever soaring price line.

This budget is hopeless
by parikkhith saha on Feb 28, 2007 04:21 PM  | Hide replies

It does'nt make sense by increasing the threshold from 1lac to 1.1 lac. That means a saving of 1000. In what way does the FM see the benefit. The prices of goods & commodities are so high u spend 1000 n u dont even know what u hav bought (inflation). So what message is the FM trying to convey budget to save Rs 1000 for salaried people. Simply the salaried people are screwed.

WE INDIANS WANT EVERYTHING EASY
by UmaShankar SathyaKumar on Feb 28, 2007 04:21 PM  | Hide replies

I do understand that the poor is very difficult time and suffering, working class is bearing the tax burden, Business class and the rich enjoying the 'wine&dine'....

We Indians want everything best...but, we don't want to pay the price for it. It is easy to blame any government..whether it is UPA or BJP..The government can only do certain initiative for growth, then the rest must come from all of us. Look at our civic sense...we all cry about corruption..yet we are the one give bribe to get things done and blame other for encouraging it....Indians need to grow before India can grow...

The one thing that will remain unchanged is Tax and death. Understand and live with this truth. Life will become easier....

Jai Hind...

We can surely have the philosophical outlook that you recommend, if only we the honest middle class knew how to make those extra bucks illegally, which do not attract tax!
