Budget
by rizwan basha on Feb 28, 2007 07:58 PM

Lo,
It looks like he is an FM for the congress party, not for the people. He is making sure that people pay taxes so that Congress party (and the Nehru family) and its ministers can fill pockets sufficient for generatiosn to come.
God save that FM.

WE INDIANS WANT EVERYTHING BEST BUT CHEAP
by UmaShankar SathyaKumar on Feb 28, 2007 07:56 PM  | Hide replies

I do understand that the poor is having very difficult time and suffering, working class is bearing the tax burden, Business class and the rich are enjoying the 'wine&dine'....

I am sure that poor needs ways and means to grow. No doubt about that.

Look at this message board. How many of you earning less than 1,50,000 per month? Why are you guys crying foul on taxes? I don't think anyone earning just 1,500 per month is commenting in this message board.

I do see that many on this message board don't quite seems to understand that we Indians want everything best to be done by the ruling government...but, we don't want to pay the price for it in the form of tax. Without taxing, how can any governemtn provide service in India, where the economy is growing fater if not as predicted 8-9%?

It is easy to blame any government..whether it is UPA or BJP..The government can only do certain initiative for growth, then the rest must come from all of us.

Look at our collective civic sense...for instance, we all cry about corruption..yet we are the one give bribe to get things done and blame other for encouraging it....

Indians need to grow before India can grow...Work hard, pay taxes and defeat all corrupt politicians. How many of you enjoy nice 'Khana' and sleep or go to a movie instead of voting on the elction day?

The one thing that will remain unchanged is Tax and death. Understand and live with this truth. Life will become easier....

Stop Crying...

Jai Hind...

Sir, I earn just Rs40k a month and pay every paise of tax. See, I am a govt.servant. Those of us who complain about corruption, must also remember, that corruption starts in most cases because we ourselves want to bend the rules a little, of course in our favour. Not that some of us have not paid bribes even when we were straight. How many times have we kept quiet when the bus conductor gave us Rs2/- back and no ticket when he/she should have given a ticket of Rs5/-?

We dont mind paying taxes as long as the tax money is put to good use. Are you trying to tell me after so many years the govt did not collect enough money to build decent roads or generate enough electricity or build enough schools for the street children to study.Look at the crumbling road and rail infrastructure in mumbai. Look at the bad state of other states. None of this happens. God knows where all the tax money disappears. If the tax money is put to god use for the nation then i dont care paying 40% tax as eventually it is going to be me who is going to use the facilities provided by the govt and live a better life.

This FM is not for common class. He himself is from aa royal family. So we cannot expect any thing better. Where is he going to understand the common class. Make Laloo prasad Yadav to handle this FM portfolio. I think he could give better budget keeping common class in mind.

educatuon cess
by paramjit kaur on Feb 28, 2007 07:51 PM

The politicians are all hand in gloves. One minister wants special privileges for SC/ST/backward classes like reservations etc. and the other wants us to pay for their education by levying education cess...... what kind of justice is that????????

I agree it is not a dream budget. But you can't expect it every time. The things i like in this budget are increase funds allocated for education, rural health care, AIDS research., decrease in duty on agriculture related equipment. it is a safe budget , not revolutionary. But we have to understand it is a result of a detailed study by experts in the field. But the hike in scholarships etc. for SC/ST could have been extended to all poor students. FC or SC , let the really needy people be helped!

many people are not happy because he has not done anything for the working people.. he should have done.. but dont you think he has thought about education for poor children.. have anybody ever been for few days with poor children and seen their life.. how misreable it is.. i think the most important thing for india is to make everybody to atleast get basis education.. 1% edcuation cess will not affect us.. but think for long term.. lots of familes will have decent life. I salute FM or thinking for them. And then it is not possible to satisfy everybody so lots of people will have objection with this budjet.

India is growing and people will be rich. Hope even the poor people will also have a better life.

No-one has objection on paying more education cess. But why only salaried class should bear the bruden. Go and Investigate hidden accounts of politicans. Ask businessmen to pay more taxes from their profit as a social responsibility. Why he is not taxing rich class just becasue they are giving him money for elections? Why more scholarship for SC/ST students from our earning. Do you think these scholarships are going to right people. I have hardly seen any sincere SC/ST student who is eligible for getting this scholarship. In my class there were 5-6 students from this so called backward class. Their parents were in Govt. Service at good position. They were senoir to me by 1-2 years, but they failed in exams and came to my class after 1-2 years gap. they were getting scholarship of 15-16k.. and me and my friends who were topper of the class were not getting single penie though my fathers incomde was less than 70000/-. Why this descrimination?

Yes. I can understand.
I am against this type of descrimination like reservation/scholarship on caste basis. Do you think there are only rich people in Upper class and only poor people in Backward class? I have experienced it and thats why I am opposing to favor them and these dirty politicians are spreading this virus in this current generation by these reservations and scholarships.

sorry!! Shailesh, But I think the scholarships should not be based on the community you belong, it should be based on the income of the people. Show the annual income, tax receipts..and then you become eligible for the scholarships.

I feel that is what is thinking BIG

there is nothing new in fm's budget 2007, chidambaram has no option and never intended to give some relief to salaried people, as inflation rises in india, budget makes no difference in common people's life.poor chidambaram.

Mukesh,

He raised the exemption limit for all of us.U save "1000 bucks a month" for taxes. I feel thats a gr8 move. He could not lift the limit very high, for he has to strike balance with other exemptions. Like, education, health, AIDS and CAncer research which he has done.

Please let know, if you differ
