We do need more institutes of technology. because we have many talented youngsters. But, upgrading existing institutes is certainly not the answer. in doing this we will be treating at per children who exelled in the entrance examination with those who had failed to qualify. This will affect the morale of the best students. What are we going to gain from that?Think again!!
I just can't understand wat lies in the name of IIT.
Why do we need to convert REC's to IIT's ,instead we must take firm steps to provide REC's and other Engg. Colleges with a much more supportive feedback so that they may help themselves in shining like an IIT.
Have u ever been to any IITs?? I have been to IIT-D. And i think that they are the best place to study. The environment there is so motivating. No wonder they are the best institute of the country. We definitly need more IITs. There are very less seats compared to the indian population. I am not in favour of converting RECs to IITs. They should be made seperately. RECs are at a different place and IITs are different.
Being an IITian, I couldn't resist sharing my views. According to me, present number of IITs are enough. First, I resist the idiot idea of increasing the number of IITs. If at all this happens, Government should make sure that if it increases the number of IITs, it raises barrier to entry. I as an IITian never want quality of students coming in to be diluted ...NO...AND..NEVER.............Mushrooming engineering colleges in India have already degraded the position of engineers. Every street of India is lucky (or unlucky)enough to see 5-10 engineers residing in and roaming jobless....(Thanks to the nonsense policy of Department of Education)...They are ready to work for 2000-4000 rs per month...I don't want it to happen with IITians. INDIA, pls keep politics away from IITs ..please....please...
Take the measures to improve the quality of the education, but not to increse the institutes. we are spending lot of money in getting degree, but where is job? previously, two IIT's were increased, what about their status today?. If you are so deterministic, then better rename the present IIT's as AIIT(All India Institute of Technology)...always there should be recognition for OLD IITS.
think govt should not take this step as this decrease the quality in JEE exam. Also these colleges do not have that infrastucture and the level of education and ...many more things which IIT have.
Do we need more IIT'S. I have been hearing this quite often. but what we actually need is IISc. India needs more of research institute rather that institute that churn out undergrad engineers. No one in india opts for degree in basic sciences. MIT, CalTech are world class institutes because of its research capabilities. so lets spend resources in developing research institutes. also if universities are given free hand to develop their own course content they would do much better job.
I think not need to improve quentity education. We can improve the stander of rec's.We also know that in India we need more good institude but IIT is our impration.
We do not need any more IITs. Any addition to the existing ones will only dilute the quality.
The Government should imporve the standard of education in the exisiting engineering colleges. Each state has 100s of colleges. Why these colleges could not bring standards like the IITs. People in power and authority should think about all these issues. The infrastructure facilities and the quality of the faculty in most of the colleges are extemely poor. This has to be addressed and avoid additional investment on new IITs.
This is scam generated by the education ministry controlled by Babus and Ministers who cannot get their childre admitted into IITs.Their children get admitted into US universities where standards are not so high and give admission based on money power.
Adding more IITs will dilute the standards both at admission stage and also whilst passing out.As an IITian from 64 batch. Ihave seen the world at various levels.IITans are the envy because the best only get a chance to study.although some of the good ones dont get admitted due to luck factor. But for heavens sake .all IItans should oppose the this harebrained scheme. You may soon see political interference
which will undermine the status our institutions enjoy.
The quality of faculty in Mumbai Colleges are generally below average standards, due selection thro influence. Can you imagine the quality of education imparted and the students passing out.Students some of them are individually brilliant but most are of very average /poor quality.
Let us not screw up atleast one institution which India can be proud of,which is considered better than Harvard.
