No we don't,instead if we concentrate on improving the standard of regional engg colleges that itself would be great, then who would need IIT's. Also IIT's exclusivity would be lost which is right now considered as backbone of creating technologically sound professionals.Sad thing is that these professionals leave the country and contribute to other country growth which should be curbed.
definitely !!! we need more iits and that is because the student to graduate ratio in our country has worsened further , instead of aicte recognizing the
private colleges , majority of whom are not efficient,
Increasing the number of IITs will reduce their importance. The alternative is to develop the NITs as there is one NIT in each State, to take care of our growing needs. IITs may be reserved only for post-graduation and research. This would also reduce the coaching business for IITs which has reduced the importance of the students in taking the +2 final examinations seriously.
Theses Rec`s which are now called NIT`s are the best institutes..No, Doubt all are not good but u can see some of them like Surathkal,Warrangal...At least theses are perfect in their own ways..
The students prepari g for IITs are not succesful in the first chance so to increase the no. of seats they should be made IITs.
