the quality of aducation just cant be changed by simply changing the names.the more important is to increase the standard of educations in the rits by concentrating mainly on the teaching staff and make it comparable with the quality standards of iits.
i feel we donot need more of iit's coz the amount of resouces we guys spend on them goes to drain ....coz once they r out these institutes , they just shift abroad bringing no benefit to india...but rather filling their pockets...and having a better std of living .
i think that the goverment should pay more attention in upgrading the facilities in existinging iit's than increasing number of IIT's.or open new IIT than upgrading the NIT's . by doing this the student of particular state will lose there place in NIT(50%)which is reserved for them and also existing IIT's will lose there brand name.there is only one MIT in US and no replica .
The point here is not abt REC's becoming IIT, we should be looking at the bigger picture ie to improve the quality of education in the country and to have have a good number of truly worldclass institutions. Giving a good exposure to wider spectrum would indeed produce better and brighter students.
Secondly, i feel the govt is taking this measure in order to remove the regional imbalance currently existing.( in the north we have an IIT/IT BHU/ISM every 200 kms or so) but in the south we have just one(IITM) which is a step in the right direction.
From Decades India has been ruling the world in a subconscious way due to the immense prowess it possesses in her genes. The government decision to increase the number of IIT's will lead to tap the section who just miss the india's most competitive exam and henceforth a boost to the technology of India in the research labs.
Certainly we need more IITs as we are thrusting to become a developed nation. Technological know how and advancement is very much needed to pace with the world competition. To achieve this prestigious institutions like IITs must be able to accomodate more challenging youths and exploit their enthusiasm and creative energy for national development. Education Minister's decision shold be considered as a grace to the nation.
there should be a balance between quality & quantity.
IIT's signify quality & this is what they are known for in the world.if you switch over to quantity then it would not remain the same. as it goes too much of everything is bad. let the iit's be as such & don't try to interfere in its proceedings.
Yes we neeeed more IITs. This would add to technological prowess of our country as mant IIT aspirants who are unable to get a seat in an IIT are joining in some other non reputed colleges and are lagging behind in technological studies.
