Sorry God, We fight in the name of religon
by Devendra Mhatre on Dec 15, 2008 12:46 AM  Permalink

We all should be ashamed for fighting in the name of religon. A Terorist is a Terrorist whose sole Objective is to spread Terror, Hatered. He has no religion. The bullet or a bomb does not recognise the victims religion, caste, creed, sex, or class. It simply Kills. There is no Hindu, Muslim or Sikh Terrorists (or of any Religion). The Media/politicians Should be Banned from using or coining such words which spreads hatered or divide friends and neighbours. All our holy books do not teach us hatered. We should not get carried away with mindless discussions/slogans in Media and Politician's Speeches but focus on concrete positive steps:
1) One Point Contact - Phone/email to report Suspicious activities/ Corruption. Each such complaint should be assigned a unique number and followup action by the single point authority should be published on Website.
2) Stringent Action (not merely Transfer) should be taken on not only Ministers but Beruacrats for negligence of duty.
3) Media Should avoid using religion, caste in reporting/analysing tragic events or even election results

You may be right but how do we explain to the youth the reason for finger on the trigger of terrorism most of the times being that of the muslims all over the world. It is time that all muslims vehemently declare terrorism as unislamic even if it is used against the Israelis-- as killing of innocent people is wrong whatever be their religion or leanings

NOTHING HAS CHANGED.. WE NEED...
by GABBY on Dec 13, 2008 07:57 PM  Permalink

1)Voting and voting thoughtfully.
2)Every adult citizen should be compelled to carry an identity proof with him or her at all time.
3)More security measures in border areas. Especially in Bangladesh-India border. As a bengali I have a fair idea what happens there.
4)Not politicising terror.
5)Security should be tight. No communal cry in security biz. Doubtful ppl must be checked thoroughly.
6)Govt officers especially state govt officers should stop covering their subordinates and vice-versa.
7)Increasing the pay of the govt employees was a good move. But lets not stop there, make them more accountable also.
8)We need more law enforcers in each and every department.
9)Littering and other petty offences should not be taken tightly by the govts.

Let's weed out Corruption
by Bennet PAES on Dec 13, 2008 07:38 PM  Permalink

Thanks to Terrorism, CORRUPTION seems to have taken a back seat.
God! what this country needs to be worried about most are corrupt Politicians, corrupt Bureaucrats, corrupt Policemen, corrupt Businessmen and corrupt men and women in all walks of life.

Let us weed out corruption, beginning with Politicians and their henchmen - the Bureaucrats, and we will see TERRORISM causing us not so much of a concern as at present.

how to make a difference
by ajay ranu on Dec 12, 2008 10:54 PM  Permalink

i have decided to opine on the message board on all issues so that people understand how such wars are fought. the recent happenings are not just a reflection of our politicians but also a reflection of our history , our mistakes in history and our shortcomings as a nation and as liberal people.
the things we must understand are
1. wars are fought in all spectrums . there is no need to goto war when u can affect ur adversary without it.
2. we have to develop an understanding of wars and conflicts at a strategic level - history has proven that we might be good in the battle area but are poor tacticians - the worst our netas and babus are hopeless on the subject and that is why we are at the recieving end from all neighbouring countries - sri lanka where tamils are being persecuted, bangladesh where hindus have been driven away , nepal where there ia an anti india feeling. the problem is with us and not our neighbours - so thank ur MEA for all this too from pakistan.
3. we have poor institutional memeory- prithviraj chauhan had to fight number of times and forgot - for what i dint know. didi he not lose his own men . so we are basically exploitative as an individual. maybe we need to change - remove caste distinction and make all equals.
4. strenghten the nations war making capability. deterrence works and keeps peace in the environment. ur neighbours must be weak and u must have assymetric overwhelmingly capability to inflict damage on any misadventures by them.

How to check terrorism
by Hanuman Mall Gulgulia on Dec 11, 2008 07:48 PM  Permalink

An autonomous National Security Agency, like Chief Election Commission, be formed providing them with sharper teeth, to strike lethal bite the terrorists or their sympathizers within and outside of the country. No terrorist should find a shelter from where he/she can operate. If this is done, I am sure, 90% work is done and rest 10% can be over come with equipping of personnels with modern weaponry and gadgets.

watching the story of kasav daily on tv. i feel that if hewould have got right education and good up bringing he had not been a terrorist.poverty has driven him to this route.so education is a must for every child.some fanatics r using these children for their benefits but what they r getting?they r misleading these innocent lives.
instead of sending these children they should have come themselves.

There is no excuse for cruelty and vicousness. If you can kill a person in cold blood(WITHOUT any personal animosity)then you are a terrible person who does not have the right to live in any human society.

How do YOU plan to make a difference?
by BirBal on Dec 08, 2008 06:41 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The real heroes of mumbai terror attacks are Late-Tukaram Ombale & his team and Yadav RPF at CSTM. The video clips & interviews of all these guys should be sent to all schools/colleges. It will encourage youth as how single man can fight against all odds without expecting special equipments etc from system. Only will power to perform whatever duty assigned is required.
We have youth willing to fight but doesn't have Heroes to which youth should follow. In the fight of independance no of heroes are there at that time having fighting spirit by way of non-violence or violence.
We all should keep spreading the heroics done in recent attack by all to maximum indians. I have started already will you?

That episode is inspiring as well as sad.
Sad because despite a large number of terrorist attacks, the Police is still using same weapons that they were using 60 years back while terrorist always have upgraded weapons.

And to make sure the equipment if Police is upgraded, the same weapons should be deployed to the security personnel of so called VIP's. This will force them to think.
