They are already far out number in percentage in any top positions in the country and ouside. This happened because they never allowed other caste people to get into education system from vedic period. Still they want to explot the poor by demanding reservations. It is absurd. You dont find Brahmin or any uppercastes in the slums or working under NREGA. Shame if youstill want reservations.

Quotas in colleges and jobs must be related to social and economic disadvantages. A barber who cuts hair for a livelihood and a person who belongs to that caste must be differentiated. A washerman`s daughter must get 10% of extra marks as weightage in the qualifying examination. His son must get 5% extra marks. These 10% and 5% are of the marks or grades they score in the qualifying examinations and not a blanket figure for all.Person just belonging to that caste but not doing that job should atleast gradually lose the facility. In one survey I had conducted all students who were treated as "tribals" never saw an agency area. Even their parents never lived in any forest area.So you want Brahmins in slums. But they prefer migrating to US,UK to being scolded by others just for no fault of theirs .

Patriot you mean to say that all the people studying in schools & colleges now are only Brahmins? And by the way what is your definition of Upper caste. The biggest irony is that lower caste ( so called) people continue their tirade against upper caste(so called)even when they (so called upper caste) themselves don't want to believe in casteism

Well done Mr. Shekhar! Brahmins of North and East should also raise the voice.
No needy SC/ST is getting the benefit,(say needy may be 10%) benefit is being taken by the grandsons of those, who were earlier benefitted. Is it our SWARAJ that even after 60 years of independence, people are starving for a job of Rs.100 per day.
Re: Brahmin community get reservation'?

Why do u say you are Brahmin of North. Why cant you say that u r an Indian ?
I think people who are actually backward (not from any particular caste, religion) who are actually poor should be given reservation , people who have income above Rs.60,000/- P.A. should not be entitled for any reservation irrespective of caste, religion
Plain talking, of course, not without substance. Suffocation, isolation, in short. If all elected representatives, if not at least a majority, speak out their conscience as Mr Shekar did, strong public opinion would replace hero worship. Let not Shekar's be the solitary instance. Good wishes to Shekar.

First of all you dont know who is Brahmin, Brahmin means upper caste people and Tata, Birla, Ambanis, Lakshmi Mittal, Indira Gandhi, Mahatama Gandhi, Amitabh Bachhan, Akshay Kumar, I can count lakhs of names which have eminent contribution in development of India, they all are brahmins and if you feel India will grow only when ther eis no brahmins, I think you are not clear to your imagination. Unity in Diversified culture is our main strength and i think some people are making it our weekness by giving reservation in the name of caste, religion, which is totally incorrect.
brahmins of tamilnadu can take care of themseves. they do not need any reservation, or some other god father to their community. if they are honest, sincere, talented and enterprising and well educated their services will be welcomed. they have survived the anti-brahmin campaign of periyar, karunanidhi and veeramani & co. their strength is that they are not in politics as a community orientd one but based on their own but several varients , hues and idea of culture, economics, political philosophy. there is no party not was a party whollly devoted to the cause of brahmins. that way it is better for them. jeyalalitha, Cho are not their leaders nor Rajai when he was alive. several living acharyas guide them on cultural/bakthi sectors but not in political one.
