Real intention of reservation is to create vote bank, not to bridge the gaps between haves and havesnot. Nature of Inidan democracy is that if one could get 20 to 30% of vote by consolidating few sections of society he would win the election. One thing I could not understand when India was ruled by foreign forces (British and Muslims) over a period of 1000 years how could so called Brahmins discriminate SC/ST/OBC? If we see the history, we find that OBCs have ruled this country. Infact they are rulling today also...
So why is reservation required? If it is required, it should be given to the economicaly weeker sections.
These kind of stupid articles should not be printed on websites. This will innecessary give foolish ideas to some idiots in India and they will start pushing govt. to go for reservations. Anyways, bloody politicians will make sure that it becomes an election issue.
There is vast difference of economical status of South Indian Brahmins, and Brahmins from uttar Pradesh. I have observed, Uttar Pradesh brahmins are poor, they are taxiwalas in Mumbai. Why so I wonder. Because, brahmis from Maharashtra and South India are well educated and well placed (wily and rogues) in Mumbai. i think in Uttar Pradesh if they are poor they should be given status of Economically backward class.
I agree fully with the concept that brahmins must get reservations in proportion to their population, as is being done in case of other communities are getting. This is the only way to combat the evils of reservations that no one is treated as general candidate and every community gets reservation proportionally. CMK

While I agree with the statistics provided etc, I dont think Brahmins need the help of reservation to come up in life. Brahmins usually are naturally brilliant. 2ndly, if people are talking about reservation for the BCs, they are indirectly discriminating. Let the reservation help people who cant come up in life with their hard work and intelligence.
Brahmins have not done any crime. They were puppets of the kings or ruler of that time. No Brahmin was a king/ruler they were either Yadavs or Rajupts or Jats or Gujjars. But now all these are enjoying reservations. I only remember King ravana of ShriLanks was was Brahmin. What is the image of a Brahmin (Ravana)in Hinduism that we all know. Do you know from where Gods Ram/Krishna came from - they all are from the casts which are enjoying reservations or ruled the India. What I feel that Brahmins were forced to say that Rama is like God and ravana is like evil. The history is written by the ruler not by the peron who is actually writing it. Kings of that time forced Brahmins to write history against Brahmins. Above all there is only one community which is continuously contributing the society as much as they can. They were always first targets of Mugals and this is happening now also. If you see most of the freedom fighters were Brahmins. You know during British rule Jats and British came together and made a law that no Brahmin can do farming in north India. I think this was the step Brahmins look forward and went back to studies. Now again ppl are ruling and enjoying every moment of humiliating Brahmins in India...for god sake stop this

Brahmins are not Aryans...They were there in India along with other caste before the purported lie of Aryan Invasion....Aryan Invasion is a myth...So Dravidian Brahmin is a reality and so do our itihasa's speak

Actually there was no aryan invasion in India. The people who went out of India, for expeditions, and exploration came back, They went out of their community or 'Rya' in ancient tounge of Sanskrit...Hence local people who returned were called 'Arya'. Read 'Return of the Aryans' by BS Gidwani. There are several archealogical reasearch pending in this area of discussion. We will soon learn the truth. The britishers wanted us to be a enslaved race from time immemorial, hence they invented Aryan Invasion theory
