Reservations were enacted just because of the discriminations set by brahmins on other casts for centuries in this country. Govt did it to help the suppressed people to get educated and get jobs.
Even today if brahmins are wealthy they would have the habit of discriminating other humans. If they are poor, then will question the system of reservation, not realising that its all the fruits of sins(discrimination) committed by their ancestors.

It is obvious with the message as to who is one sided and stereotyping a whole community...This is similar to the argument made by Hitler when he planned to persecute the Jews
AND I AM SUFFERING ALSO BECOS OF IT, I DONT HAVE RESERVATION BUT RESERVATION IS REQUIRED TO RIGHT THE HISTORIC INJUSTICE DONE TO THE OPPRESSED PEOPLE IN THE NAME OF RELIGION AND VEDIC SUPREMACY

Reseravtion was need initially. . Now it has tuned into greed. Now reserved categories do not want to give up reseravtion even if they have IAS fathers. They want reservations for infinity. Reservation gives easy money, easy job. So it is necessary to keep the hatred against general category people alive to keep the reservation benefit for ever.

Whenever there is a riot resulting in killing, burning of public transport etc., you will never find a single Brahmin in these actions. If Brahmins are the intelligentia class, it is because they dont indulge in vandalism and use their time in studying and growing. Which is not the case with reserved category. To cite an example, when you travel through the tribal belts of Orissa, Jharkhand, Chattisgarh, WB in the early hours of the day, you find families sitting in open fields in circle and having country made liquor. How can you change these people through reservations? Brahmins dont do such things. Stop Brahmin bashing for once and try ask your wards to get into studies instead of indulging in vandalism, which is what the so called under privileged community students of TN are doing today. parameswaran K,
Yes, Brahmins wont involve themselves in riots, but what do best is stimulate the fight and take the back seat to watch. VHP/RSS are all doing that only.

Very much correct. They call it patience..even cows retaliate, if one crow dies 10's line up for it, if one ant dies 100's of ants line up.. but brahmins...never..always look themselves..not even at their community.

Paramesh - I would not want someone to stop bashing Brahmins as Caste system was practised vigorously by them but I would want people to learn how fast they came out of it. So they practised for 1000 years, but given the Indian governments efforts , they don't practise it today. Most have moved on and without reservation have still gone to harvard, IIT, IIM by securing 99 or 100 %. So why not other communities learn from them? Will you ever hear from them that in last 60 years we have been not given opportunities to grow? Never...they have just taken things with a pinch of salt and the next generation has been trained to get 99 % or 100 % and nothing less. Its like "Please try to stop us if you can". They followed it with Private sector success in India and now our politicians are demanding reservation in Infosys and Cognizant.
These Bamans are the most cunning race on this planet. They created reservation in the first place. Created four varnas/casteism and placed them in top slot. They manipulated all other people for thousands of years. They cunningly took roles as priests. Every sacred ceremony should be performed by a priest only and a priest can be baman only. To save their asses, they created laws like "bramha hatya". So that no body should even think of killing a baman even he has committed a ghast crimes. Actually these bamans are the ones who divided people and ruled over them for thousands of years. They are the masters of this policy and we accuse British about it. People who opposed/challenged Baman's were placed as Shudras and unthinkable crimes were dashed out towards them. They encouraged all kinds of inhuman treatments, Untouchability towards shudras and not a single time they repented over it. Whenever there happened a sage/true saint, kind soul from other community, Bamans created hue and cry against them and plotted conspiracies against them. Example like sant Dhanyashwar, Tukaram and even Gandhiji were all murdered by them and declared as Samadhis to fool people. They discourage anyone and everyone who tried to be revolutionary, attempted to foster new ideas. Example is Shivaji who created the Swaraj concept. Even the Pune Bamans were against of Shivaji's Rajyabhishak because they thought he is of lower caste.

I believe in myself whereas you are dependent on reservations. Take 100% jobs in Govt. and educational institutions, but still I will be on the top. You will only cry foul sitting at the bottom, looking up at my growth and financial strength which I have got despite lack of reservations. Parameswaran

The option to become a Brahmin was there for every body when caste system was created. Those who decided to lead a pious life, sought to become Brahmins. Others who did not want to give up drinking, eating meat, having multiple wives etc. fell in the rest of the category. Who is asking them not to become Brahmins even today by adopting to the regulations prescribed for Brahmins. They cannot and will not. Instead they will continue to do Brahmin bashing, while Brahmin, ignoring the ignonimity being meted out to him, is concentrating on his growth. This is making others jelous. Parameswaran

lazy bones.. will remain lazy bones... before 1000's of years of after 1000's of years.. even if u ask people after 1000's of years(assuming there is no death..) they will still blame for something which happend 2000 years before.... sick mentality.. any way guyz the people who are having resrvations maintain your population... coz if u dont keep increasing u r population u r reservations will go off... so its not really based on what happend 1000's of years ago.. but its about...

Well, there is a doubt about this. There is a theory that when Manu created four varnas, anyone and anybody could switch from their layers but this later on stopped permanently after sometime. Examples are from Ramayan, Mahabharat only. Why Shambu - a shudra was killed by Ram for performing meditation because meditation was right of Baman only. Why Karna had to bear so much insult in his life even though he was so good? Because the layers became rigid and nobody was allowed to switch them irrespective of their capabilities. Bamans made them rigid. The life style was more of a show-off for others so that there's a seperate identity for ruling a top slot, to be treated with respect. Nodoubt, they were capable of pulling it off and had they used their abilities and intelligence for the greater good of the society, this country woule have made lot of progress on all fronts but they misused their power and weakened this society for ages.
The message is for the brahmins where it is really true.. No govt jobs are offered to brahmins.any meeting you hear person in the stage speak rotten about brahmins.. It was before 60 to 70 years where things were different and now it has changed a lot .. We need to have a mind set stating all are INDIANS .. only in this country we see caste discrimination .. in aborad for example you see in USA people themselves proud to be called as americans nor in UK as britsh.. We need to change and change will be for good and best ...

Re: change
by parameswaran K on Mar 31, 2009 06:59 PM
Brahmins never sought reservations inspite the oppression being meted out to them by TN. They are a lot taught to stand by their own stead and deeds and never beg before people. In reality other communities have been begging. Manu never said that a Brahmin born to a Brahmin father should be a Brahmin. A Brahmin becomes Brahman by his deeds. There are certain regulations for Brahmins. They should not drink, smoke, eat meat, have extra marital sex etc. Can you practice that Vinod. If you do, you can also have a sacred thread and become a Brahmin. Become a Brahmin by your actions instead of going the negative way. Parameswaran

This Ramyana and Mahabharata were written by Shudras...Fisherman Vyasa and Hunter Valmiki...what about that...Is that not proof enough for Brahminism respecting people beyond caste..
Re: Re: change

Parameswaram,Agree and I would like to add...becoming a Brahmin is not a credit...it is a sacrifice..It is dedicating your life to attaining knowledge and spreading spiritual tranquility..Lot of Brahmins have gone astray from this path...It does not mean , the community or the dedication should be punished or looked down upon..

hey buddy, I don't drink , I don't smoke , I am veggie and I am virgin at 30.. forget about extra marital. Can you consider me as Brahmin ? Those practices are nothing to do caste . Thats coming from way you have been brought up. Come on man ....what you are talking is utter trash . I have tamil brahmin roommate who smokes / drink / eat meat , but he does sandhyavadhanam as well.

I agree with you Guru...your friend is not a Brahmin...by life..he might be by birth...If you follow a good life...you cerainly are a Brahmin...just remember Mahabharata and Ramayana were written by a Fisherman, Vyasa and Hunter, Valmiki...everyone including Brahmin elders of those days revered them and followed their teachings...Hindu Philosophy is beyond the caste of birth..it is by caste of practice. But here we are discussing a political issue which is currently following caste by birth policy and awarding reservations to many undeserving candidates
