Manusmriti
by sacchibaat on Mar 31, 2009 07:35 PM  | Hide replies

There is a theory that when Manu created four varnas, anyone and anybody could switch from their layers but this later on stopped permanently after sometime. Examples are from Ramayan, Mahabharat only. Why Shambu - a shudra was killed by Ram for performing meditation because meditation was right of Baman only. Why Karna had to bear so much insult in his life even though he was the best? Because the layers became rigid and nobody was allowed to switch them irrespective of their capabilities. Bamans made them rigid. The simple life style was more of a show-off for others so that there's a seperate identity for ruling a top slot, to be treated with respect. Nodoubt, they were capable of pulling it off and had they used their abilities and intelligence for the greater good of the society, this country woule have made lot of progress on all fronts but they misused their power and weakened this society for ages.

Ramayana and Mahabharata were written by a Hunter - Valmiki and a Fisherman-Vyasa...who were not Brahmins...they belong to the so called Shudras..but these texts are the most revered ones in Hindu history..This by itself proves your point wrong...sacchibaat

Maths and science is not all. BTW, there are thousands of colleges today so anyone who is really accurate and still not getting admission, I doubt your accuracy then.. How can a scripture be faulty? They just represent the living practices of that age? Be specific but not cryptic.

Thiruvalluvar cannot be Christian because he was born and lived much before Christ came to earth. Such people only try to pervert history like Karunanidhi trying to change the Tamil New Year Day. Ignorance - that is only. Such people can never come up life. They will only do Brahmin bashing for survival. Parameswaran

for creating an headline that is triggering all this useless discussions.

We should be discussing about how we can do social service...and help someone like SV Sekhar who is funding the cremation of unclaimed bodies..

we should be discussing about dead bodies and NOT Dead Past.

Reservation
by Hot on Mar 31, 2009 07:21 PM  | Hide replies

Reseravtion was need initially. . Now it has tuned into greed. Now reserved categories do not want to give up reseravtion even if they have IAS fathers. They want reservations for infinity. Reservation gives easy money, easy job. So it is necessary to keep the hatred against general category people alive to keep the reservation benefit for ever.

Even the great Ambedkar did not ask his followers to convert to Islam or Christianity. He simply asked them to switch over to Budhism which is again an offshoot of Hinduism. Budha never created a new religion, he only redefined Hinduism. Today most of the converted Budhists in India, are continuing and practising Hinduism only. Ambedkar knew this and he did not want the people to leave Hinduism only the casteism prevalent therein. Parameswaran

Why not?
by Pranav B on Mar 31, 2009 07:15 PM

Discriminations did happen earlier. There is no doubt about that. But just to blame one community for that is a total fraud. Who did not commit discrimination? The rulers for 1000 years from different reli gions are responsible too.

Some people argue that education reservation is needed as it was denied in the past (it is nothing but an excuse - in those days farming was 95% of Indian economy). There were hardly any colleges or white collar jobs.

Those days Business was dominated by a certain community. why not reservation for starting a business? Who about reservations for jobs occupied by Ksha triyas?
