when every community is fighting for reservation why not brahimins. if the corrupt system started by nehru is not discountinued soon then india will burn for reservation
There is no end if every community goes on asking for reservation to them. All this ruppus is cropping up because of the defective reservation policy adopted & being extended by the successive govts from time to time just to appease a section of the people in their bid to woo the latter for getting votes. Reservation to certain specified categories intiated at the beginning of our Constitution was to benefit such categories till a particular time by which they were supposed to have been placed on the equal footing with other communities. But unfortunately this has been & is being abused by the beneficiaries & the govts-the former having tasted the privileges under the policy do not wish to be delinked with it & expect it to continue for generations & the latter for its own political reasons. In the process, those enjoying the benefit of reservation are becoming forward & the forward coming under general category are getting relegated to the status of backwardness. This is not at all social justice that was aimed at while formulating the reservation policy. If every facet of life is to be determined according to the reservation for each community,it is feared that Indian nation gets strifed off into pieces.Enough is enough! It is time for us to treat every one on equal footing & scrap the reservations in all spheres of Indian life. The nationality of India is the only community that is applicable to all the people of our great country.Let us not fall pray to the political tricks.
SVe Shekar is talking sense when he seeking reservation for Brahmins. This lot has been long neglected, ostracised and condemned for no fault of the current generation. These guys neither belong to the land they were born nor to the land they seek work. They are truly the jews of India. No wonder you find them all in the USA. I think we should stop all these irrational policies and institute meritocracy. Vinod doesnt seem to know his history well. Going by his comment the whole of North India will have to be dereserved!

vinod didnt learn history geography or anything thats y he is askin for reservations...
Tambras is doing excellent work in uniting brahmins, helping economically weaker brahmins with own funds. This Sekar is trying to hijack the community in his own interest because he is ditched by his political leader. He will do well if he joins Tambras instead.

Let him do that...I dont mind as long the debate rings the bell in deaf ears of authorities...whether Tambras or Shekar..the point is more important not the medium

Nothing wrong in making a point while also helping yourself...nobody is stopping efforts by any organization or individual..all efforts are appreciated...Both Shekar and Tambras can work together or in parallel...no one is cannibalizing another persons contribution...This is not a popularity contest...it is a serious social issue...which has not been addressed for the last 50 years

That it is a serious social issue was identified by Tambras long back and it has already done enormous work for the cause of poor brahmins with very little help from well to do sections. Many in the community are not even aware of.
Govt must implement Reservations in Private Institutions, Temples, Judiciary and in Defense services.
* 50% of Temple Priests/Supreme Court Judges/Defense Staff must be from OBC communities. * 35% Temple Priests/Supreme Court Judges/Defense Staff must be from Dalits and Tribals. * Remaining Temple Priests/Supreme Court Judges/Defense Staff must be from other Castes.
You must do this till 85% of all registered marriages in India are INTER-CASTE or INTER-FAITH. This is the only way to STOP India from dis-integrating.

In Kerala Marxists tried to do this. But after trying for several decades, today all temples are having only Namboodiri Brahmin priests - others did not want to go through the rigours of Brahmanical life. Parameswaran

i think reservations should be like... this... hardworking category, lazy bums, very lazy bums,as good as being dead category....
Re: how dare
by Shrey Anand on Mar 31, 2009 07:59 PM
So you mean communities who have contributed to the countries growth only should be awarded reservation. Then why are we following caste based system...Why not abolish it? Also request you to send a list of those communities who have contributed a lot to Indian Society to the respective authorities...
Re: Re: how dare
by dudehere on Mar 31, 2009 08:11 PM
if brahmins have contributed nothing... what did u contribute which makes u ask for reservations?
Yes, There is pain...but we have outlived it...when we see our name not on the list of admissions or jobs even if we have scored 90%...and when our rich class mate who scored 50% gets one..We have let blood tears...but we have come beyond that and lead a respectable life without complaining or seeking help of anyone...This issue raised by Shekar is a starting point from where this disparity can be removed...and merit can be awarded...I sincerely hope this sparks a debate nationwide to abolish reservations based on caste and award merit...also helping financially backward duly

sundar, take IT companies. I worked with 3 of the big names. i do see a lot of SC/ST/OBC guys coming there but its very rare you see a top job held by these guys. Reservations have played to our gain. Our reserved category folks are used to getting everything like a cake walk. The same reservations have made us to stay on the top, to survive, to hone our brains, our analytical skills. Reservations would have given us nothing but laxity. Cheer up man!

Now I know where you come from! I guess you don’t know the history at all and to deny the facts, you blame others of your incompetence. If there were no Brahmins, your name wouldn’t be Vinod anymore...you would have been Vicky Dicks!

Vinodji. We never complained as you do day in and day out. See people like, Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, Dr. C.V.Raman, Dr. Subramaniam Chandrasekhar, Rt. Hon. Srinivasa Iyenger, mathematician Ramanujan, Saint Thyagaraja to name a few. All were Brahmins. Even Dr. Abdul Kalam says that he is a Brahmin Muslim because he lived near an Agraharam in Rameswaram and had his initial learnings from the Brahmin community. Can you name a single scholarly person from other communities, despite the reservations for 60 years. You cannot because you knew only Brahmin bashing. Parameswaran

Untouchability is practiced in the large scale in the newest form called reservation, untouchability against Brahmins..denying their rights...denying their merit...Two wrongs dont make a right, Iyenkar
