In Puri Jagannath temple, pandas (Sevayats) will chase you and use vulgar language if you do not pay them. You'll never feel like going to a temple again in your life.
We should always ask ourselves what Rajivji would have done. Reservations are given to socially oppressed (not necessarily economically) opressed people. Brahmins, Vaishyas, Kshatriyas were never socially oppressed, hence they do not qualify no matter what there economic condition might be. Mu$-slims and Cr-i$-ti-ans have large portion of population of former socially opressed people. Hence we must have 8% for each of those religious followers. Ultimately, no reservation policy is acceptable if it does not include mu-slims and Isai brothers.

I have a reservation for you and ALL your inbrd brethern in Pakland (.)
SVe Sekar turned out to be an opportunist politician after all. He may be a good person, noble hearted etc, but when it comes to politics he is no different. He probably thinks we forgot the 700 votes he got in his first assembly election before joining the AIADMK. He definitely owes his growth to the party. And within 2 years he started sending feelers to the DMK. It is not that he did not know that opposite parties do not talk to each other. And the DMK chief despite being years older acts cheaper than Jaya in treating his opposition. So SVe Sekar's pointers that DMK is more democratic is hollow! TN is not like BJP-Cong where there is 'Aaya Ram-Gaya Ram' culture. And SVe Sekar knew that 4 years back too! Now he claims to play the victim. Brahmins in TN are not victims, they are an integral part of the society and even if some idiot casteists rake up feelings- over all there is sufficient proof that TN has not victimised brahmins. Yes, OBCs have more than legitimate share in TN, but that is not at the expense of brahmins. I would say the OBCs (like in UP and Bihar) have decimated dalits in TN. Brahmins still have a fair legitimate, merit-based position in TN. If only SVe Sekar was true to what he claims he should have joined the BJP. Now his statements don't cut any ice!
The only solution to the mess in India is to ban reservations altogether. I have seen this system abused so much, it is nauseating. I had a college mate from so called backward category (but filty rich) who used to collect a monthly "stipend" from the college and then blow it all on parties. Also, isn't it Govt. sanctioned apartheid if they still continue dividing people based on religion, caste and tribe?
Instead, provide quality free education till 12th grade. Provide free lunch to all kids. This will provide a level playing field for all people to compete and only the deserving will shine. Meritorious economically backward students should be provided subsidies, scholarships and stipend for higher studies.
Ofcourse, the upper middle class and rich can always send their kids elsewhere for studies but we should have a good public education system to give a level foundation to all people.
1 aste 2) Financial status 3) REgion 4) REligion 5) language 6 Subcaste 7) Indian National and Foreign National :) 8) Reservation for Banladeshi, Nepalis, Srilankans and Pakistani.
well they are many places in india where brahmins live in poor inhuman conditions.
there are many places in india where thakurs and rajputs live in misery, poverty and inhuman conditions.
so is the case with verey community.
reservation should be based on economic conditions and area from which they come. for example the entire UP , Bihar and punjab is so backward they need help

I am not sure if Punjab is really backwards b'coz it has the countries highest average annual income of 35,000 with only 5-7% under poverty line
Fair justice - remove reservation for everyone, whoever gets in merit gets in. For the poor & people who cannot afford good education, government should make it free, need be provide them accomodation & food & tuition amenities (books, computer access /internet)
poor should be given books and stationery subsidy instead of reservation , brhman should not get any reservation therye not satisfied still after ages of exploitation of the poor masses. these sobs were inbed with british to rule india
I am a brahmin and I dont want/need a reservation. How much more you keep reserving seats and leave seats in open competition category. I wish everybody agrees on a totally reservation free system where merit prevails except for the mentally and physically challenged other than that as long as God has given everybody the same brain and organs, I dont see why there should be any reservation and in India, ironically, people demand that they should be declared backward, without any self respect....really shameful and pity

That is the reason everyone should be given some kind of reservation so that will make a level field. Otherwise as you said many people want to be named backward. Thus, India should be made into OBC(Other Backward Country) to fulfill everyone's desires.
