You have superficial knowledge of social injustice and appropriate intervention strategies by a welfare state. When people are so much obsessed with their high caste what do you expect. You won't let lower caste men sit along side with you even if he has money in his pocket. Reservation is to solve a social issue and not an economic issue. How many of us agree to get their sons and daughters married to a low caste boy or girl. If you start doing that there will be no 'PURE' thing and every one would be equal. If you can't do that then stop writing here as reservation is going to continue and nothing can be done about it. Lets not waste time on this.

The rationale behind Reservation is to solve economic issue and not social issue. The supreme court has categorically held that the 'Creamy Layer' (economically sound) should be excluded from the benefits of reservation, hence economically weak (irrespective of the caste) deserves the benefits of reservation.

If the non brahmins are uneducated it is not the fault of Brahmins, we feel that education as the primary thing in one's life, hence majority of the brahmins are educated although they are poor.
There are lot of economically deprived people in brahmin community but they never beg as they are having self repect. atleast you can find a brahmin working as cook rather asking for free meal.
No brahmin will traet any body as untouchable, it is prevailing in the Zamindar communities like Yadavs, Gowdas,Mukhiya's etc..
Never think that we are weak If we bowl a bouncer you will never get a chance to duck. beware !!!!!!!

People like you are dangerous for our society. Our country can progress only if we learn from the past, live in the present and prepare the country for a glorious future. Instead of living in the past to effortlessly make your present comfortable totally ignoring the future.

Yes, Brahmins were the FIRST to start the system of reservation - getting 100% reservation for all administrative and powerful post. It is only reverse discrimination now. So better put up than bargaining for more punishment

The Central Govt(whichever party) will move ahead with reservation in private institutions & companies as planned. This is known as Affirmative Action in the US. Let the Brahmin girls marry ST/SC & OBC guys if the Brahmin community do not believe in casteism anymore Their grandchildren can avail reservation this way. About the intelligence of Brahmins...if the so-called lower castes can corner such facilities like reservation then they are more intelligent then Brahmins.

Reservations should be eleminated
by Guest on Apr 01, 2009 10:54 AM

Instead of continuing the reservations in India, suggest to ban them and continue giving chance to youth and young leaders who can guide the nation towards the success and also give priority to the educated candidates in the elections.

Reservation in India.
by Ravindra Yadav on Apr 01, 2009 10:52 AM

How long and why there should be reservation for any caste or community in Independent India when all are equal.Let there be equal opportunity to all for studies. No system can educate the all countrymen.Educate only to them who are willing and approach.Lend them enough money for their study if they approach and recover the loan amount when they earn.India can not and should not spend money on them who are unwilling. It is wastage of the national amount on unproductive works.A society consists of all different level 0f the folk to run the society.A society needs mannual, intellectual workers just we need legs, hands ,heart, and brain to live like a man. Reservation now explotation and reversal of the ancient times. The other side of a coin.Unless one deserves for a post ,one should not be projected there. It will be dangerous and injurious to the society.

frank talk by a politician?
by R Balasubramanian on Apr 01, 2009 10:52 AM  | Hide replies

Yes. S Ve Shekar is right. People do commit mistake but they have the capacity to correct it and not to repeat the mistake again. A wise decision to quit AIADMK but let him be prude to take a wise decision before joining other party. His demand for reservation for Brahmin is very genuine considering the plight of majority of the Brahmins. Save and except the forward tag given to the brahmins, most of the brahmins are living below the poverty lines. Ofcourse the other sub-castes have great respect to such brahmins and are being assisted in their day to day requirements. I am sure, Chief Minister Karunanidhi, will give heed to SVS request and bring back the lost smile in the face of Brahmins, soon. If this happens, I will cast my vote for him as I have not voted in any of the previous elections.

Balasubramanian - Valadi,Trichy Dist.(presently at Blr)

In a secular country (or we proclaim so)there should not be any room for inequality. But in reality it is only on paper or in the words of some politician or minister, never in practice. To day brahmins are really an oppressed lot. They are denied many facilities like education, jobs and even a place of his own to live in. You could see them migrating to other parts of the country and world in search of livelihood. But their livelihood is nothing but penury. In government jobs they cannot go up theladder beyong junior or middlemanagement level. Whereas the priviliged people who are appointed under reservation policy are occupying plum posts. You can see that any unfilled post is left vacant and carried over until the backlog is cleared which could have been filled up by the uppercaste and Brahmins. Brahmins are humiliated in films, meetings, media and public speeches. Brahmins have never turned agressive even after this character assasination. Hope the government opens up its policies favouring Brahmins.

i dont understand this caste hierarchy in our indian system..why r these brahmins given the topmost status? I mean they have done all the wrong things in the past..and talking about these tamil brahmins, they haven't contributed anything in india's freedom stuggle also they were all the babus during the british rule licking the boots of their gora saab's.
They didn't allowed dalits or even ppl from other castes from entering their temples(in the case of iyers n iyengers). These ppl r very shrewd n good for nothing.
Firstly become a gud human being then world will automatically respect u.
Although i myself am not from a reserved community but i still support SC/St/OBC reservation as this is very imp for these communities development or else these brahmins will not let them live a normal life...i think god has done a ri8 thing by punishing these fools of their past deeds.

Stupid Gaurav, when you don't know the history, desist making such shit comments. Subramania Bharathi, Rajaji and Salem Vijayaraghavachari were some of the great freedom fighters amongst Tamil brahmin freedom fighters. Their contributions to the freedom struggle has been intentionally hushed up by the corrupt Dravidian leaders like Periyar, Anna Durai & Karunanidhi.

TAMIL EELAM
by sahaya denish on Apr 01, 2009 10:51 AM

The Tamil National Army also known as the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) were formed after the failure of many years of peaceful demonstration by Tamil leaders in order to win their freedom from the successive Sinhala majority governments, which showed no concern for the Tamil grievances. Under the leadership of Mr. Velupillai Pirabakaran, the LTTE was founded on May 5, 1976 to achieve what had become unachievable by peaceful methods in over 28 years.
Since then, the LTTE has grown out to be a massive army with the whole hearted support of the Tamil people and now has thousand of brave soldiers, with a Naval wing that has become a formidable one in the sub continent. And as the racist policies of the successive Sinhala governments subjects the Tamil civilians to more and more hard ships, the LTTE has become the army that the Tamil people can look up to in order to put an end to all the troubles and win back the Tamil's homeland, Tamil Eelam.
