Revise the schedule in table standings
by Satish Hate on Jun 10, 2009 01:48 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

if it is A1, B2, C1, D2 then the Group E should be India (A1), Pakistan (B2), West Indies (C1) & New Zealand (D2)

Group F should be:
A2, B1, C2, D1 then the teams should be:
Ireland, England, Sri Lanka & South Africa

Re: Re: Mistake in super 8 stage

Placement for the Super Eight stage is determined as follows:
The first two teams in each group are placed 1 or 2. They will retain this position for the Super Eight stage, irrespective of whether they finish first or second in their group, unless they are knocked out by the team 3 in their group. In this instance, team 3 replaces the position of the team they knock out.

Dhoni's batting approch
by Rocky Dcruz on Jun 10, 2009 10:42 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I don't understand why Dhoni is coming at 3rd position. He doen't have good batting form and on the other hand we have Suresh Raina who is in blistering form. Dhoni should come at no. 6. We should give enough overs to Raina, Yuvi & Yusuf. Dhoni should not take everything for granted as this is not a other tournament. This is world cup. India have to play better cricket against best T20 nations like S.A. and NZ to win the title. Dhoni should give up his personal obligations and think about winning the title. He should not think he is the one who won the WC 2007. He should give enough chance to other players who are currently in good touch.

Because of his current lack of form, I second your statement. No. 5 or 6 for MSD sounds right.

20-20 does not represent true cricket 20 overs in nothing by world standard anyone can win...look at holland win again england...20 -20 is a fixed game format concepted my money makers in cricket....its a fluke...u win by fluke ....real world champion are aussies...why india cant beat them in 50 over world cup finals...its cause indian cricketers do not have stamina...nor they have patience to sit in field for 50 overs....20 overs to school ke bande be khel lete hain:)....India was out in first round in 50 over world cup this time thats thier true level..rest is all advertising to promote cricket in india and to kill other sports....
shame on indians...we are killing our national game hockey for sake of money....we were 8 time world champs in hockey...can india ever match it in cricket..it will take 150 years for india to do same in cricket even though less no of nations in world play cricket than hockey:)

I am not a complete cricket lover. However, I see the game sometimes and most often through the news. I won't be able to understand what the author mean by 'true cricket'? It seems the author is quite frustrated with the game rather the issue.

I am also equally concern with the issue of hockey? But for this you don't blame the cricket, rather blame the sponsorers who don't want to invest on hockey. Thirdly, it is not the game, rather people like us have put the game in the top that pulls the sponsorers to make it more popular.

4th, the policy, there is BCCI for Cricket the autonomous body. I don't know what is the agency for hockey and how vibrant it is like BCCI.

5th, raising the status of hockey by popularising at the grassroot level and not at the higher level only.

why do you want to blame the sponcers.. you will not invest where you dont get your money back...rite...so why should they...

Pak lost against england by 48 runs
England lost against Netherlands by 2 wickets
Pak won against Netherlands by 83 runs.
How come England is in first position in Group B, instead of Pakistan?
Anyway, ICC must be happy to see Pak in the next round hoping Pak to face India in semis...

Ali is correct. NRR comes into picture when teams are tied on points. Same as goal difference in soccer.
